Presentation, Analysis, And Interpretation Of Data

Presentation of Data

This refers to the organization of data into tables, graphs or charts, so that logical and statistical
conclusions can be derived from the collected measurements.

Guidelines in Presenting the Findings

preliminary steps to prepare data for presentation and analysis must be described.

the chapter must be organized according to research questions.

tables and figures should be used to present quantitative data.

in the narrative presentation of findings, only the most important items in the tables/figures
should be discussed.

Data Analysis / Analysis of Findings

is the systemic organization and synthesis of research data and in most quantitative studies,
the testing of the hypotheses using those data.

is a process of inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling data with the goal of

discovering useful information, informing conclusions, and supporting decision-making.

Interpretation of Data

the information gathered, computed and summarized has to be thoroughly presented in a

readable manner and that explanations have to be made in the context of how the study is
being conducted (Young,1998).

is the process of making sense of numerical data that has been collected, analysed, and
presented.

Summary of Findings, Conclusion, and Recommendations

Summary

This includes the statement of the problem, the methodology, and a summary of the results.

Findings

It refers to the results or the quantitative outcomes in percentages, weighted means,

correlations, and significant differences of qualitative data.
Conclusion

It is based from the findings. It is the development of logical inferences and generalizations. It is
the resolution to the research problems.

Recommendation

Refers to the relevant suggestions that were drawn from the conclusions.

“What comes next?”

Example:

Findings

There is a significant relationship between the perceived level of social support and compliance
to self-care practices among patients with diabetic mellitus.

Conclusions

The level of perceived social support influences the performance of self-care activities among
type II diabetes patients.
