Operating lnstructions
Warning: The arc tubes of m-.ta halide lamps are des gned to operate under high
pressure and at temperatures up to 900oC. f the arc tt-rbe ruptures for any reason, the
olrter bulb m ght break and p eces of extTeme y hot glass might be d scharged into
the surro!nd ng env ronment, with an assoc ated r sk of property damage oT peTsonal
njury. The follow ng GOOD LAMP PRACT CES must be fo owed to reduce the
posslb ty of arc tube rupture
1 IURN LAN/]PS OFF AT LEAST ONCE PER WEEK FOR AT LEAST
l5 MINUTES, n systems which are olherw se operat ng on a
cont nuous basis (24 hours a dav - 7 days a week).
2. RELA]V]P F XTURES AT OR BEFORE THE END OF RATED LIFE.

3. OPEFATE LAMP ONLY IN TS RECOMMENDED POS TIONS
Warning: "These lamps can cause serious skin burn and eye inflammation {rom
shonwave ultraviolet radiation if outer envelope o{ the lamp is broken or
punctured. Do not use where people will remain for more than a few minutes
unless adequate shielding or other safety precaLrtions are used. Certain lamps
lhat will automatically extinguish when the outer envelope;s broken or
punctured are commercially available." These amps comply with FDA radialion
performance standards, 21 CFR Subchapter J.
