Instructions: Arrange the letter properly to find the hidden words.
1. SEERNRTASV – TRANSVERSE
2. LANNOLTIGUDI – LONGITUDINAL
3. VAWE – WAVE
4. CFAERUS – SURFACE
5. HANCEMILCA – MECHANICAL
c. Elicit
Instructions: Analyze the picture below, and answer the following questions.

1. What do you see in the picture?

2. How does the girl make a wave?
3. What is your idea about wave?
d. Engage
Activity 1 : Experiment Time!
1. Stretch a slinky or a spring.
2. Move the first coil from left to right.
Question:
1. From the activity performed, what is the medium?
e. Explore
The teacher will group the class into three. The class has three different learning
areas. Each of them has a different topic that they will observe and examine. The
teacher will assign each group to a designated learning area.

Group 1 – Transverse Wave

Group 2 – Longitudinal Wave

Group 3 – Surface Wave

f. Explain
Present the group observation to the class. Each group shall have a representative
to present their work.
Transverse Wave – A wave in which particles of the medium move in a
direction perpendicular to the direction where the wave moves.
Longitudinal Wave – A wave in which particles of the medium move in a
direction parallel to the direction where the wave moves.
Surface Wave – A wave in which particles of the medium undergo circular
motion.
g. Elaborate

Parts of a Wave (Transverse Wave)

1. Equilibrium Position
2. Crest
3. Trough
4. Amplitude
5. Wavelength
Parts of a Wave (Longitudinal Wave)
1. Compression
2. Rarefaction
3. Wavelength

Group Activity
Activity Card
Group 1 – Compare and Contrast Transverse, Longitudinal and Surface
Wave.
Group 2 – Draw and label the parts of a Transverse Wave.
Group 3 – Draw and label the parts of a Longitudinal Wave.
h. Evaluate
Instruction: Identify what is being asked in the question.
1. It is a travelling disturbance that carries energy from one place to
another. Wave
2. It is the source of all waves. Vibration
3. A substance or material that carries the wave. Medium
4. The undisturbed position of the wave. Equilibrium Position
5. The distance between successive identical parts of a wave.
Wavelength
6-7. Waves according to the absence or presence of a medium.
Mechanical and Electromagnetic Wave
8-10. Waves according to direction of motion of vibrating particles.
Transverse, Longitudinal, Surface Waves.
i. Extend
Instruction: Read about the Characteristics of Sound Waves.
