Mission Statement:
Last Chance for Animals (LCA) recognizes that animals have the ability to experience
pain, and as such they deserve certain basic rights protecting them from pain caused by humans.
LCA believes that non-human animals should not be subjected to suffering and exploitation by
humans because alternatives exist for nearly every traditional "usage" of animals. LCA opposes
the use of animals for scientific curiosity, entertainment, clothing, and food. LCA recognizes the
use of non-human animals in medical experimentation as both immoral and of questionable
scientific validity due to the tremendous biological difference between species. LCA's work
advocates conscious and informed lifestyle decisions, and LCA is committed to disseminating
truthful information about societal animal abuse to improve the treatment of animals.
Purpose:
The purpose of the Last Chance for Animals organization is to protect animals and
eliminate animal exploitation that are caused by humans. They also protect animals from being a
subject of scientific research. LCA also educates humans about how they should treat animals
and teach what they might be doing wrong with their pet. They also provide food and shelter to
the animals that they rescue.
Part II
I chose to volunteer at Last Chance for Animals (LCA) because I have loved animals
ever since I was a kid and I want to help protect them. I also picked this group because I admire
how they use the law to safeguard animals and stop people from abusing them. The purpose of
this organization is to protect animals and provide food and shelter to animals that they find and
rescue. LCA also exposes and puts people and organizations to jail for exploiting animals for
their meat and skins and prevents them from using animals as scientific subjects. This
organization would provide benefits to my community because they will prevent animal cruelty
and stop people from abusing animals. This would make people from my community and me to
feel safe because we’re not living in a community that has animal abusers.
I envision myself volunteering at LCA feeding and saving animals. I also see myself
participating in apprehending people who abuse and exploit animals for their own benefit.
Volunteering in this organization would fulfill my childhood goal to help and protect animals.
The personal benefit I would gain from volunteering at LCA is that I would learn a bunch of
things about animals that I have no idea about. I can then teach the knowledge I learned from this
organization to my family and friends that have an animal pet in order for them to treat their
animals properly. Finally, volunteering in LCA would help me socially and would make me
become more globally aware.
