    In various cultures, encouraging children to pursue their dreams with effort is believed to be beneficial for development. However, it can also lead to toxic positivity if children are not taught that their dreams may not be possible or that other factors beyond effort are needed for success. While some cultures, like the Buginese tribe, motivate youth to achieve ambitious dreams like becoming great sailors, it is important to also teach children to pursue ambitions realistically and match their efforts to their actual abilities and capacities. Failing to consider a child's capabilities can result in toxic positivity that traps them.

    In various cultures, people believe that telling children that they are able to pursue every aspiration only

    if they put a lot of effort on it. For some reasons, it is beneficial for the children to ensure them dare to
    dream and not afraid to fail, even though this will be a drawback as it will lead them to the toxic
    positivity issue.

    For most traditions and cultures, encouraging the youth generation for achieving anything is a
    mandatory value due to the reason of their personal development. This can be witnessed in Buginese
    tribe, where the youngsters are told to become a great sailorman and conquering the world if they are
    competent enough in sailing and travelling above the water. They are grown and motivated with a
    saying “once the sails are inflated, the big dipper never recedes to the shore” which means they will be
    successful if they could can make the Buginese people proud by become famous overseas. To reach this
    level, those youngsters will sacrifice their lifetime by sailing as far as possible to prove they are capable
    enough to achieve the dream as a complished sailor and develop the tribe widely.

    Nevertheless, the eagerness of pursuing every ambition as hard as you can may also be a boomerang if
    the target is impossible. The reason for this is sometimes children are not taught that the effort should
    be equal with the objection of what they want to be. Making children believe their dream will come true
    is easy, but to tell them that not every dream is possible if they do not pay attention to their capacities
    traps them in toxic positivity issue. We need to embrace them to see things realistically, so their
    ambition will be achievable, and will not let them dismiss the other factors of success.

    In conclusion, letting children to know that they could pursue their ambition as long as they do it with
    wholeheartedly efforts is an advantage to them in terms of their personal development, but to ensure
    they are capable enough on making it come true is a strong argument to make sure they will not
    experience disadvantages such as toxic positivity.
