Plain socks

1. Rewind the yarn into skeins or onto a cone.

2. Cast on needles 33-0-33


stitches for ribbon 2x2.

Attention, the outer stitches on the


front bed (FB).

Distance between BB and FB is 3.


Stitch size - 3*/ 3*, knit 30 rows.
3. Transfer of all stitches to FB.
66 stitches total (33-0-33)

4. Stitch size on FB - 5.
Knit 1 row on FB.
5. Delete 1 stitch on each side. 64 stitches total (32-0-32).

6. Remove 16 stitches on each side on a socks-decker (if there is no socks-decker - remove


on a thin knitting needle).
7. Transfer the stitches from socks-decker to the BB hooks.
BB 32 st. (16-0-16)
FB 32 st. (16-0-16)

8. When transferring stitches from the carriage side to the BB, make sure the thread rests on
top of the stitches and needles.

Set the needles under the thread to the 3rd position.

The needle return

Stitch size - BC 5 / FC 5.
Set both of carriages for circular knitting (BC→ / FC←).
Distance between BB and FB is 4.
Knit 1 row.
Push the needles from position 3 to working position 1.
9. Knit 70 rows in a circular knit.

10. Disconnect the FC.


Knitting settings on BC - V.
Needle return levers (needle return buttons) in the middle (neutral) position. Needles in 3
positions do not knit.
Distance between BB and FB is 5.

11. Raise the FB to a position above the BB.


12. Extend 1 needle to position 3 from the carriage side.
Knit 1 row.
Repeat until there are 11 needles on each side at position 3 and 10 needles in the middle at
position 1.

13. Alternately return the needles from position 3 to work. To do this, from the side
opposite to the carriage, move the needle from position 3 to position 2. From the side of the
carriage, we wrap the needle in position 3 with a thread.
Knit 1 row.
Repeat until all needles return to position 1.
14. When on one side all the needles return to work, and on the other side there is 1 needle
in 3 positions:

1) set the needle return levers on the BC down (all needles are
knitted);
2) attach the FC. Set both of carriages for circular knitting
(BC→ / FC←);
3) distance between BB and FB is 4;
4) lower the front bed to normal position;

...and before knitting the next row,…. →

15. → ...before knitting the next row, put the working thread
on the hook of the extreme needle on the FB.
16. Knit 40 rows.

On each bed, delete 1 stitch on each side for a snug fit of the sock to the leg.

BB - 30 st. (15-0-15)
FB - 30 st. (15-0-15)
Knit 70 rows.

17. On each bed, we delete 1 stitch on each side


BB - 28 st. (14-0-14)
FB - 28 st. (14-0-14)
Knit 6 rows.

On each bed, we delete 1 stitch on each side


Knit 4 rows.
Repeat 5 times.
BB - 18 st. (9-0-9)
FB - 18 st. (9-0-9)

On each bed, we delete 1 stitch on each side.


Knit 2 rows.
Repeat until there are 8 or 10 st left on each bed.
18. Cut off the working thread and lower it down between the
beds. Thread length - 25 cm.

Settings on both
carriages 0/0.
we draw the carriages
to the other side of the
knitting, opposite to the end of the thread.
we insert another thread into the carriages, preferably in a contrasting color (I did not have a
contrasting thread at hand).

19. we put the beds in a position where the needles are not opposite
each other, but are staggered to each other (step 1/2).

20. Carriage settings - BB "V" / FB "V".


Knit several rows and remove the sock from the needles.

21. We sew the ribbon in such a way that the seam is invisible. On the seamy side we hide
the end of the thread and cut it off.
The end stitches of the ribbon were on the BB (step 2), so I had to sew along the purl stitch es. If
the outer stitches of the ribbon on the FB, it will be easier to sew along the front stitches.
22. Before sewing on the toe loops, steam the toe off with a steam iron.

Sew the loops of the front and back of the sock carefully while pulling out the contrasting
thread.

23. Hide the end of the thread in an inconspicuous way on the wrong side.

24. Your sock is ready!
