Course Objectives
 Measurements fundamentals: units and standards, errors,
statistical analysis.
 DC/AC meters construction; loading effect; insertion loss.
 Signal processing; Difference and instrumentation
amplifiers, attenuation
 Digital measurements: Data conversion principles; Digital
voltmeter;
 Transducers and sensors; displays; Oscilloscope, Spectrum
analyzer; grounding, shielding, and noise.

 Evaluate error by statistical approach. a


 Evaluate error by statistical approach of analog and digital measurement systems a
 Design analog and digital meters within realistic constraints c
 Develop solution using attenuators and difference and instrumentation amplifiers to c
minimize the loading effects and insertion losses of analog and digital meters
 Use electrical engineering tools like analog and digital meters, oscilloscopes and spectrum c
analyzer.
 Apply engineering principles of grounding for hazards protection and shielding to minimize c
the noise.
 Piece together sensors, amplifier and attenuator, data conversion principles and digital e
readouts like LCD, to form a measurement system.
