Correlation One / Amazon Programs:

Extended Case 1 Grading Instructions

Extended cases for our Amazon programs need to be manually graded. Fellows will
receive one overall grade for each extended case.

We grade Extended cases on a Pass/Fail basis. To pass, fellows must get at least 60% of the
Extended Case exercises correct.

When grading an Extended Case, there are two possible grades you can give:
● Pass -- 60 to 100 indicates a passing grade and that they passed at least 60% of the
Exercises (4/7 exercises correct).
● Fail -- 0 to 59 indicates a failing grade and that you passed less than 60% of the exercises
(3/7 exercises correct).

Feedback
The desired objective is to provide the fellows with a means to improve themselves. One
possible feedback is critiquing their analysis if their solution is correct or providing alternative
solutions for some fellows.

For other fellows, you should pinpoint the exercise where they made their first logical error, write
a sentence outlining the mistake, and explain the correct solution.

Regardless of the student, you should always provide a positive comment about their
submission unless their submission is seriously lacking in effort.

Do not get bogged down by giving detailed feedback for every aspect of the fellows’
submission. Instead, find one or two key points to focus on and improve.
Guidelines for grading Amazon Extended Cases

1. Review the Extended Case 1 notebook with answers here & PDF version here. Excel
Answer Key here.
2. Open this Google Sheet to grade the notebook and add score and feedback columns to
the sheet with your name. To view the fellow’s notebook click the link.
a. Please note: for questions 5.2 and 5.3: The question “How many medals
per athlete were awarded…” never mentions providing “an average number
of total medals awarded…“, we only know an average per athlete is needed
because of the column in Excel. This wording may have been confusing for
fellows As a result, please override for correct answers if the Fellow gives a
list of each athlete and the average medals each athlete won as the question
seems to suggest
3. Open this Google Sheet to grade the Excel and add score and feedback columns to the
sheet with your name. To download the fellow’s Excel click the link.
4. Please note the final score on the Notebook & the Excel file should be the same!
5. If a student only submitted a notebook or only submitted an Excel file, please grade what
was submitted and flag that somewhere in the sheet.
6. Please close notebooks using File > Close and Halt to release the server resources.
