1.

Unity

Example 1:

Engineers create wealth for society. So, tennis is a game and the resources of the earth are scarce. Have
you gone mad? Thus the only solution is to educate the public on being socially responsible.

Example 2:

Touch is our most intimate and powerful means of communication. A doctor makes the mother feel her
baby to give her satisfaction after her birth labor. The mother caresses the newborn to give the baby a
feeling of love and security that will be the foundation of the self. A father taps the shoulder of his son
to boost the latter’s sagging morale after his defeat in a school contest. A son holds the hands of his
dying father in a final goodbye. A friend embraces another friend to drive away the latter’s loneliness.
These tactile stimulations oftentimes spell a difference.

2. Coherence

Example 1:

Having been accepted by the University, I started college. My grades had been satisfactory. I was not
prepared for the difficult period of adjustment. I soon became discouraged with myself and so
dissatisfied with my studies. I was on the point of quitting. My adviser must have sensed this. He called
me to the office and talked to me about the duties of a student and the difficulties of first year college.
Those talks helped me considerably. I realized that there was nothing wrong with the school or me. I
decided to stay.

Example 2:

Having been accepted by the University, I started college. In high school, my grades had been
satisfactory but unfortunately, I was not prepared for the difficult period of adjustment in college.
Consequently, I soon became so discouraged with myself and so dissatisfied with my studies that I was
on the point of quitting. I think my adviser sensed this, for he called me to his office and talked to me
about both the duties of a student and the difficulties of first year college. That talk helped me
considerably. From then on, I realized that nothing was wrong with me of the school that experience
could not cure; hence I decided to stay.

3. Order

The top sizzler of the Las Vegas Strip is its casino. As you enter the casino hallway, you notice the eerie,
smoky, shadowy taverns and lobbies. The ringing slot machines, chinking of coins and howls or rowdy
revelers emanating from the rooms indicate that you are on the threshold of all sorts of gaming
machines and card game tables. Watching players for a while, win or lose, you observe that the name of
the of the game is chance. Warming up, you dare try your luck. One slot machine, displaying a platter of
coins, appears easy to tackle. Just a little jar, you surmise, would push the coins to tumble from the
latter edge. Imagining yourself as a sure winner, you drop a quarter coin, and then lower the machine
handle. However, the coin simply falls before the platter. Again, you drop coins, pounding on the glass
top to agitate them, yet not a single piece of silver cares to budge. You try another slot machine for
good luck’s sake and still another. The game of chance fever has gotten you. Give up? No way!
