4 – Communion with God

1 - You are not right with God.

Job 38:1-4 Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm. He said: ‘Who is this that obscures my
plans with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and
you shall answer me. ‘Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you
understand.

Job 40:1-8 The Lord said to Job: ‘Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him?
Let him who accuses God answer him!’ Then Job answered the Lord: ‘I am unworthy – how can
I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth. I spoke once, but I have no answer – twice, but I
will say no more.’ Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm: ‘Brace yourself like a man; I
will question you, and you shall answer me. ‘Would you discredit my justice? Would you
condemn me to justify yourself?

Job 42:1-6 Then Job replied to the Lord: ‘I know that you can do all things; no purpose of
yours can be thwarted. You asked, “Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?”
Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know. ‘You said,
“Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.” My ears had
heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust
and ashes.’

2 - You are not right with other people.

Mark 11:25 And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so
that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to
the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your
prayers may not be hindered.

● When others cannot forgive you, that can cause a blockage to your prayer.

Matthew 5:23-24 So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother
has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your
brother, and then come and offer your gift.

3 - You are not right with yourself.

James 4:17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

Proverbs 28:9 If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

4 – Satan’s Schemes

Daniel 10:10-14 And behold, a hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and
knees. And he said to me, “O Daniel, man greatly loved, understand the words that I speak to you,
and stand upright, for now I have been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I
stood up trembling. Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your
heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I
have come because of your words. The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one
days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of
Persia, and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days.
For the vision is for days yet to come.”
