1) Read: “My favourite book”
When I was eight I loved reading books. My favourite one was ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, by Roald Dahl. I liked it
because the story is very clever and Charlie is an interesting person.
The book is about a boy called Charlie Bucket who lives with his parents and all his grandparents. They are very
poor and live in a small house. Near their house is the biggest chocolate factory in the world. Charlie loves chocolate, but
his family can only buy him chocolate on his birthday.
A man called Willy Wonka owns the chocolate factory. One day, he decides to make special tickets which he puts
in five chocolate bars. The five people who find the special tickets can go to his chocolate factory for one day.
Charlie is very lucky because he finds some money and gets one of the five tickets in the chocolate bar that he
buys. At the factory, Willy Wonka shows the winners where he makes the magic sweets.
The four other winners are naughty and terrible things happen to them. A boy falls in the chocolate river and
disappears into the chocolate machine. A girl becomes blue when she eats some new sweets. Some small animals throw
another girl in the rubbish.
At the end, Charlie is the only good child so Willy Wonka asks him to work with him in the chocolate factory. The
story is very exciting and funny. I have read it ten times and I have seen the film three times.
