Theater
 is the ultimate art since it is a collaborative art form that combines various
discipline of art such as visual and performing arts
PETA (Philippine Educational Theater Association)
 A Theatrical association of artists and educators.
 It was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award on 2017

Elements of Theater

PERFORMERS
These are persons who are on stage and portray their
characters in a convincing way for the audience

AUDIENCE
They tend to respond to the energy the audience
ships while watching the play.

DIRECTOR
The director serves as an overseer to the entire
production. He/she ensures that performers are doing their
job well, including understanding and delivering the text.
PERFORMACE STAGE
This element may refer to the space in which the actors
can perform. It may also refer to the space for the

Forms of Theater
ABSURD
• It is a genre of modern play that deliberately exaggerates the event and the
situation to emphasize a point.

STAGE SHOW
• Also known as bodabil is a theatrical presentation of various acts and
performances.
BRENCHTIAN THEATER
• It is an example of modern theatrical show. It is also referred to as epic theater.

CHLDREN THEATER
 These are plays that are either performed by children or by adults for children

MELODRAMA
• It is a nonmusical play that is intended to elicit tears and emotional attachment to
characters.
DRAMATIC MONOLOGUE
• It is a type of play wherein an individual actor speaks and acts out the character’s
thoughts and emotions.

TULA DULA
• A play poem was developed by the University of the Philippines in the 1970s. It
is minimalist in attack wherein poem is dramatized by a narrator who recites the
piece and two or more effect. actors provide the movement and the sound

POLITICAL THEATER
• It is a form of theater whose intention is to transform or improve the current
system of the government.
MUSICAL THEATER
• A play wherein music is an essential part of the production. This includes
traditional Filipino theater such as sarswela and ritualistic dramas.

REALISM
• It is a type of drama that provides an accurate depiction of real-life situations.
