Introduction

When a pregnancy is terminated to prevent childbirth, this is known as an abortion. It is sometimes referred to as
pregnancy termination. The topic of choice for women with unintended or undesired pregnancies is abortion. According
to BPAS, they provide care for thousands of women who have chosen that having an abortion is the best course of action
for them as well as counseling and advice to those who are unsure of what to do next. There are two types of abortion
treatments, "medical and surgical," and some religious people oppose legal abortion because they are aware that, in the
eyes of the Catholic Church, the killing of a fetus constitutes the same crime as the killing of a person. Co-authored study
with Steven D. Levitt, co-author of Free Economics. According to a PhD, legalizing abortion can lower crime since
women who have abortions are more likely to have children who will commit crimes. This essay will demonstrate my
support for legalizing abortion in the Philippines since it can lower crime rates.

Counter Argument

As a result of their belief in the bible, which states that killing a fetus or a fetus in a woman's embryo is the same as killing
a human person, the catholic church considers abortion to be a crime. Section 12 is mentioned in Article 11 of the 1987
Philippine Constitution. The state must uphold and support the family as a fundamental and self-reliant social institution
because it is sacred. It must equally safeguard the unborn child's mother's life beginning with conception.
The act is against the law in the Philippines. The amended penal code of the Philippines' Articles 256, 258 and impose
prison time for women who have abortions.
Compared to women who are denied abortions, women who get abortions have a lower risk of developing mental health
issues. According to a 2013 peer-reviewed study comparing the mental health of women who were denied abortions, those
who were denied the procedure "had more regret and anger and less relief and happiness" than those who thought that
having the abortion was the right choice. According to Steven Levitt, legal abortion has significantly decreased crime.
According to modern crime reduction efforts, women who have abortions are most likely to give birth to offspring who
will commit crimes, while women who have control over when to have children are more likely to raise them in ideal
circumstances.
Women who had refused abortions were more likely to lose their jobs, receive public assistance, live below the poverty
line, and experience domestic abuse.

Argument
Women who are rejected are more likely to lose their jobs, become dependent on public assistance, live below the poverty
line, and engage in domestic violence. According to a study from the University of California, San Francisco, women who
were turned away from abortion clinics because they had exceeded the clinic's gestational limit were three times as likely
to be living below the poverty line two years later than those who were able to access abortions. through the American
Psychological Association (APA).
With abortion, pregnant women have the option to decide whether or not to carry fetuses with severe defects to term; in
some cases, these fetuses have conditions that are so severe that death is certain either before or soon after the birth. One
of these anexcephex, a condition in which organs grow outside the body cavity The university of Pennsylvania's Deborah
Anne Driscull, MD, professor of obstetrics and gynecology, claimed that many couples lack the financial means,
emotional fortitude, and familial support necessary to raise a kid with down syndrome.

Conclusion

The researcher concurred that abortion should be legalized in the Philippines because it can benefit working women and
lower their taxes. It can also benefit women who lack the resources to manage their fertility and their lives. The researcher
supports legalizing abortion because it is the best option for achieving your goals and fulfilling your obligations. Abortion
can reduce papulation and stop poverty.
