The Problem and its Setting

Introduction

Android application is one of very common sources of fun and entertainment nowadays.

Sometimes, people spending much time clicking and using their smart phones or gadgets

whenever they are. Hence, game developers and programmers are creating applications that can

be easily installed in their mobile gadgets to help users use their gadgets efficiently.

The use of android application can help the users learn anywhere they are. They need to

install the application on android phone. The users do not need to carry heavy books, because it

is simply installed in the android phone. The application has various mathematical applications

so that the user can learn more and be interested in mathematics subject.

Some students at early age are already fond of using technology. Because of this, it can be

possible for them to be distracted, though it has a good benefit. This can help students to learn

and at the same time enjoy while learning.

Mobile technologies have changed our societies in many respects. They have affected the

way people interact with each other, how people communicate, work and travel. Mobile devices,

systems and technologies are now universally owned, accepted and used. As consequence also

the meaning and significance of learning are changing. Educators, employers, parents and the

public have begun to emphasize the need for lifelong learning and 21st century skills.

The interest in computer vision has exploded in recent years. Features such as recognition

and 3d construction have become available in several fields. These computations are however

advanced both mathematically and computationally, limiting the available end user applications.
Imaging of different sorts has become a basic feature in modern mobile phones along with the

introduction of the camera phone, which leads to a market for computer vision related

implementations on such devices.

The progress in mobile application development moves more and more towards service

development with support for multiple platforms rather than platform specific low level

development. While previous mobile development was almost exclusively done in low level

languages such as assembly and the industry moves towards the use of high level languages

such as Java. This switch is motivated by the huge development speed up, which leads to cost

decrease and feature increase and also motivated by the huge common code base in such

languages. It is made possible by the increase in computational performance much like it was

when the same type of switch was introduced on desktop computers some years ago. Power

efficiency is a large issue on mobile devices, which suggests that parallel computing with

multiple cores and processor types rather than an increase in single CPU clock speed is the way

to go in mobile devices, again in the same manner as the idea of performance increase was

changed in desktop computers some years ago. The use of dedicated processors for signalling

has been utilized in mobile devices for years.

Recent development has brought multiple cores and dedicated 3D graphic processors to

the mobile devices. The move to parallel computation and the natural limits of mobile devices

such as network delays puts extra constraints on the high level programmer. These constraints

are normally not thought of when developing a desktop application in a high level language.
The goal of the present study is to weigh the Impact of Android Phone Mathematical

Applications on the Performance of Grade 11 Strand Home Economic Students in Mathematics.

Applications on handheld mobile devices, primarily based on the Android platform.

This study will be conducted to find impact of this application to the students’ academic

performance before and after the use of the applications.

Statement of the Problem

This study is focused on the Impact of Android Phone Mathematical Applications on the

Performance of Grade 11 Strand Home Economic Students in Mathematics specifically it aims to

answers the following questions;

1. What is the profile of the respondents along mathematical application?

2. What are the Android Phone Mathematical Application commonly use to enhance their

Mathematical performance?

3. Is there any significant difference between the mathematical performance before and

mathematical performance after the use of an Android Mathematical Application?

Significance of the Study

This study is focused on the Impact of Android Phone Mathematical Application in

enhancing the mathematical performance of Grade 11 strand Home Economic students at

Northills College of Asia (NCA) Inc. Daet Campus SY 2022-2023. Moreover, this study will be

beneficial to the Senior high school, teachers or instructors and future researchers.
Teachers/Instructors. This study also aims to help and guide teachers and Senior High

School instructors improve their strategy in teaching high school students using mathematical

application. It helps them in teaching the students on how to use the mathematical application in

a useful way

HE Students. This study will help students to enhance their mathematical skills using

mathematical applications and teach them to study while having fun by the modules and

mathematical applications used by the developer.

Scope and Limitation

This study is focused on the Impact of Android Phone Mathematical Application in

enhancing of the mathematical performance of the students at Northills College of Asia (NCA)

Inc. Daet Campus SY 2022-2023. The respondents of the study will be composed of 31students

from section Gemini and 38 students from Pisces of Grade 11students with an average of 45%

Grade 11 Gemini and 55% from Grade 11 Pisces, respectively. The mathematical performance

refers to the result of the 1st and 2nd monthly exam. The 1st monthly exam without the use of math

application and 2nd monthly exam with the use of math application. The 1st and 2nd monthly exam

was undertaken as the scope of the study.

Hypotheses

There is no significant difference between the mathematical performance before and after

the use of an Android Phone Mathematical Applications.


Definition of Terms

Mathematical Performance. It is referring to the performance of students in

mathematics with and without the use of math application.

Android Operating System. It is an operating system that runs through the Android

platform. It is used to power Smartphone, tablets and other mobile devices. It is also an operating

system used to run the applications.

Android Phone.It is a device which is used to install mathematical application.

Application.Refers to the software that was built for personal computers or any mobile

devices that can be convenient to other users.

Connectivism. It is a learning theory that explains how internet technologies have

created new opportunities for people to learn and share information.

Instructional Skills. Process or manner by which an instruction module, instruction

phase, or an entire course is delivered, and which may include a conference, demonstration,

discussion, lecture, etc. Also called technique of delivery.

Impact. Effect of mobile mathematical application on the academic performance of

students.

Mobile Application. Is a mobile device’s software that could be found in smart phones

and tablets.

Math Dictionary. it is an application that can use to find the meaning of different words

in mathematics.
Math Papa. it is an application that can help you solve equations and get step – by – step

algebra problem.

Math Formulas. it is an application that provides the list of formulas in algebra,

geometry, analytical geometry, derivative, integration, trigonometry, numeral methods,

probability, and etc.

Quadratic Equation Solver. it is an application that solves quadratic equations or

formulas and gives you the step – by – step solution. This application is featured with both

Quadratic Formula and Completing the Square Methods.

Radical Expressions. is a new educational math app that is ideal for radical expression

operations .

Graphing Calculator. view step – by – step procedure on how to solve equation in

Cartesian coordinate plane and it shows what graph is all about.

Expression Simplifier. it shows step – by – step simplification of expressions.

Factorization. It shows step – by – step procedure on how to factorize 2-terms, 3-terms

and 4-terms. It also explains how to factor out common factors.

Math Solver. Use for solving math problems. Along with answers, detailed step-by-step

solutions are available. In addition, you can use the training mode in which the

application checks your solutions. Generates new math problems, gives clues in case of any

difficulties, and keeps statistics of your "weak" and "strong" math skills.
Future Researchers. This study will benefit the future researcher. It can provide and

enhance their information about the different Android Phone Applications as medium of teaching

mathematics and other concepts related to the study.
