THEORIES RELATED
TO THE
"GRANDMA'S BOY"
CASE STUDY

a) THEORY OF NEEDS A.H.

MASLOW
THEORY OF NEEDS A.H. MASLOW

 Need is the will of man to complete the state

of lack, disorder and imbalance in himself.
 Basically, human needs can be classified
into physiological and psychological needs.
 Physiological needs are basic needs born
from organic deficiencies such as food and
drink, oxygen, sleep and rest and sex.
 Psychological needs are secondary needs that
arise from relationships and interactions between
people in various environments such as love.
 Abraham H.Maslow believed that an individual
will satisfy basic needs before secondary needs.
 He divided human needs into 5 levels by adding 2
levels in the hierarchy according to the
percentage that needs to be achieved by the
individual himself.
 Maslow classifies the seven human needs in 2 categories
which are deficiency needs and existence or enrichment
needs.
 Deficit needs include physiological lack, safety, love and
self-esteem.
 Informational, aesthetic, self-actualization needs are
categorized as nurturing needs.
 People who try to pursue and meet the needs of
enrichment such as using their talents to perfect
themselves, gain knowledge are people who have
successfully overcome the needs of deficiency.
 All the deficiency needs have been met, only then will one
try to fulfill the deficiency in the need for nourishment
IMPLICATIONS OF THE CONCEPT OF NEED IN
CLASSROOM PRACTICE

 Make sure the student's basic needs are met.

 Make the classroom atmosphere conducive so that
they feel fun, happy, harmonious and safe.
 Being affectionate to meet the need for affection.
 Cultivating the value of self-esteem among students
and motivating them to work hard in learning.
 Planning activities according to students' abilities
with the aim of increasing their confidence and
increasing opportunities to meet the needs of
enrichment which is to acquire knowledge, enjoy
and produce high quality.
