Background Of The Study:

Children have certain emotional needs that have to be catered for if they have to gain emotional

stability. It can be noted that children brought up in a home devoid of love and care most times

grow up with unwanted characters in the society. Structural functionalism, in sociology and other

social sciences, a school of thought according to which each of the institutions, relationships,

roles, and norms that together constitute a society serves a purpose, and each is indispensable

for the continued existence of the others and of society as a whole. In structural functionalism,

social change is regarded as an adaptive response to some tension within the social system.

The purpose of this study is to identify what is love: relationship between mother and child. This

paper wants to determine the answers to the following questions 1. What is love regarding

relationship between mother and child 2. How will you describe love towards your children 3.

how do they execute love. A secure attachment with parents helps promote a child’s cognitive,

emotional and social development, it also helps kids exhibit positive social behavior.

Statement of the Problem:

Often, despite a parent's best efforts, parent/child relational problems arise. These problems

may start when a child is young or develop as a child gets older and enters different stages of

development. For example, a teenager may show a lack of respect for her parents as she

begins to become more self-absorbed and depend more on her friends than her family. Children

who do not respect their parents often show their lack of respect by failing to obey their parents

or showing a disregard for their emotions and feelings. This lack of respect may transfer to a

child's self-respect, causing him to make bad choices. It may also transfer to how a child

respects others, making him treat others poorly.

You can improve your relationships in your parent’s by:

“ Wear a smile ”
The best way to foster a positive relationship with parents is simple: smile! But do so genuinely
— don’t wear a smile to appease your students or their parents, or to hide your true feelings.
When you greet parents in the morning, exchange niceties and be mindful of your expression.
When parents see you as someone who is cheerful and happy to see them and their child,
they’ll be more likely to want to develop a positive relationship with you. Turn that frown upside
down, and see how much of an impact it makes!

“ Learn their names”

Addressing parents by their first names is an easy yet effective way to establish a positive
relationship with them. When you take the time to learn these small tidbits, it shows that you do
care. Parents know that you have an extensive list of names to memorize, so when you go the
extra mile to do so, they’ll more than appreciate it. Before long, they may consider you a friend
and not just a teacher!

“Show genuine kindness and compassion for the child”

A parent’s number-one priority is the happiness and well-being of their child. For this reason, it
is not enough to simply be on good terms with them. You must also display a healthy and
positive relationship with the child.

“Show gratitude”
Some of the most impactful words you can say to a parent are “thank you.” For as much as you
do for their child in the classroom, parents do tenfold at home and on the weekends.

“Listen to them”
Nothing is more frustrating to a parent than a teacher that presumes to know more about their
child than they do. Your teaching career has likely given you ample experience in dealing with
children from all walks of life, but parents know their kids best
