B.IDENTIDY THE MATERIALS

1.Diamond- They are known particularly for their use in jewelry, such as

rings or necklaces, because of their durability and their luster.
However, most diamonds are used industrially. Because of their
hardness, diamonds are extremely useful when you used to cut, grind or
drill other materials.

2.Quartz- Refers to a specific chemical compound (silicon dioxide or

silica, SiO2) having a specific crystalline from (hexagonal). Quartz is
physically and chemically resistant to weathering.

3.Feldsfar- Any of a group of aluminosilicate minerals that contain

calcium, sodium, or potassium.Feldspar make up more than half of
Earth’s crust, and professional literature about them constitutes a
large percentage of the literature mineralogy.

4.Flourite- also called (flourspar)is the mineral form of calcium

fluoride CaF2. It belongs to the halide minerals. It cyrztillizes in
isometric cubic habit. Although octahedral and more complex isometric
forms are not uncommon.

5.Talc- common silicate mineral that is distuinguised for almost all

other materials by its extreme softness. It’s a soapy or greasy feel
accounts for the name soaptones given to compact aggregates of talc
and other rock-forming minerals.

C.DIAGRAM ANALYSIS

1.Igneous rock can form underground, where the magma cools slowly.
Or, igneous rock can form above ground, where the magma cools
quickly. When it pour’s out on Earth’s Surface magma is called lava,
After a long time the sediments can be cemented together to make
sedimentary rock. When sedimentary rocks, are buried deep beneath
Earth’s Surface great pressure and tremendous heat change these
rocks into new rocs containing different materials.

2.The only way to create an igneous rock is to create a melt.

Therefore, to turn a methamorphic rock into an igneous rock, you have
to keep heat and pressure rising on the rock, until the minerals
melt. The earlier stage of this process (if it ends at that point) are
called ‘migmatite’(miced rocks) were the rock consists partially of
unmelted methammorphic rock with patially melted to melted
material,intimately intermixed.

D.

1.Diamonds are much harder than quartz, and the quartz has white
streak and their hardness at MOH scale 7.

2.This can be related by taking care of the diamond and examining

whether it is rough or not so diamonds should be properly examined.
3.Geologist do the same thing, using specific properties to identify
rocks and minerals. Geologist do the following test to distinguished
minerals and rocks they make: hardness, color, streak, luster, cleavage,
and chemical reaction.
4. Sad because there is a conflict between the miner/ inventor but I
will be happy because mining can provide livelihood to local communities,
and provides many opportunities to local government.

VIII.REFLECTION
The 3 Things I Learned Is.
1.Igneous rocks comes from molten magma
2.Sedimantary rocks are very common
3.Methamosphic rock is move under a lot of pressure and heat

2 QUESTIONS I STILL HAVE

1.Can diamond melts?
2.What makes certain rocks valuable?

1 OPINION NOW I HAVE

Rocks and Materials is all around us, they help us to develop new
technologies and our use in our everyday lives. Our use of rocks and
minerals includes a building materials,cosmetics,cars,roads,and
appliances. Rocks and minerals are important for learning about earth
materials,structures, and systems.
