An Observation/ Interview Guide for Home-School link
Read the following carefully before you begin to observe/ interview. Then write
your observation report on the space provided.
The Learner
1. Make a general observation of the learner. Describe him/ her in each of the
domains of development:
● Physical-body build and height (thin, chubby, underweight, overweight), level of
physical activity (fast, slow, lethargic, active, etc.)
● Social - interaction with teachers and classmates ( loner, shy, sociable,
friendly, gets into fights, liked by others, etc.)
● Emotional moods, temperament, cries easily, loses temper, happy, shows
enthusiasm, excitement, indifferent, etc.)
● Cognitive ( appears to understand lessons, copes with the lessons, excels, lags
behind, shows reasoning skills, turns in assignments and requirements, etc.)
1. Conduct a home visit. Once there, observe the home st-up. ( Home is orderly,
family pictures in the living room, etc. )
2. Use the interview Questions on the next page. Just ask the questions with which
you feel comfortable.
After you have gathered all the necessary data. Write the learner’s development profile
using the outline below. Type the profile on a separate sheet and attach it to this learning
Episode.

possess exceptional physical, emotional, moral, and cognitive attributes.
Recommendations

ANALYZE
Your findings and recommendations in the Learner Development Profile will help you
answer the questions here.
1. From your home visit and interview, What do you think is the style of parenting
experienced by the learner? Explain your answer.
I believe that her mother has a more authoritarian parenting style since she makes
decisions on behalf of the father. Therefore, if she is more authoritarian, it is totally okay.
2. Relating your data with what you learned from child development, what family
factors do you think contribute to the development and overall adjustment of the learner in
school?
Perhaps the death of the father is a key element in the development of the kid. Perhaps her
timidity is due to the fact that she sticks out in a crowd. There's a chance that her mother's
advice was right. Her general adjustment is due to the support of her siblings and their
influence on her development.
3. Does the communication between the home - school have an affect on the learner? If
ys, what are these effects?
It has, without question. As we are all aware, our parents are our first instructors; thus, if
they taught us well, we will be able to survive in the outside world. If we are not adequately
taught at home, we will not be able to understand the content of things.
4. How can the teacher partner with the community to contribute to the development
and learning of the students? Who are the people or which institutions can the teacher tap
to seek advice regarding development and learning of students.
The more parental involvement in their children's education, the better the results.
This is true for all forms of parental participation in their children's education, as well as
for all types and ages of pupils. The greater the advantages, the sooner parents get engaged
in their children's educational process. Educators usually stress the importance of the
home and family environment in shaping a child's school achievement. At all levels,
parental participation is clearly beneficial for creating academic and emotional changes,
and middle and high schools are urged to engage and sustain this involvement.
REFLECT
1. Reflect on your own development as a child. What type of parenting did you
experience? How did it affect you?
From the time I was a youngster until the present, I have seen that my parenting style has
been dictatorial.
My parents want me to grow up to be a responsible and contributing member of society.
My parents may find it difficult to choose the ideal approach to raise me so that I may
become a productive adult member of society. My parents practiced "authoritarian
parenting" since they are quite rigorous. They have many regulations, and when I violate
them, I am reprimanded by being yelled at, blamed, or scared. Consequently, I understand
why they did it; it's because I've developed as a nice and powerful individual, which has
affected my personality to become a better version of myself.
2. As a future teacher, how would you establish good home- school collaboration? How
can you work well with the parents? How can you help them? How can they help you?
