THE LEARNER’S DEVELOPMENT PROFILE (Outline)

Family Profile
Number of Siblings: 1 (one)
Birth Order: only child
Parent
Mother: Raishelle Bulan
Occupation: Housewife Educational Attainment: College Level
Father: Paul Brian Bulan
Occupation: Seafarer Educational Attainment: College Graduate

Physical Development
Upon the pregnancy of the mother its health is good and do not feel ill on the 3 semesters.
Same as to with the child when born, she is healthy and doesn’t have illness or problem upon birth. In
short, the child is physically fit, mentally strong and healthy. The first word and walk of a child is very
important to a parent. Paula is in its 11 months when she started to talk and walk. When she was a
child, she prefer to eat fried chicken. However, upon growing she prefer to eat vegetables and skip to
take sweet stuffs like candies and chocolates.

Social Development
Upon interviewing, her mother told me that Paula is a shy type, yet she has a friend. She only
talks to someone who she knows she is comfortable with. She also play with her classmates and
cousins if they find time to bond. She is sociable to person who she knows is comfortable with. But
her mother set rules in letting her to go out with her playmates. Some of her rules is that, she should
be at home early and must play in less than 2 hours. Another thing is, when she allowed to go out,
Paula should set her phone to high volume because her mother will call if ever. In short, she
communicated well concerning her own sake and to other around her.

Emotional Development
Her parents doesn’t expect too much from her. The thing is they expect her to finish her
studies, grow responsible just like choose what’s the best for her. Eventually to be independent. They
don’t pressure their child. If where is the child’s interests, then they support her. If problems are
activated the parent do not let the child solve it with her own. Though Paula is open to spill to her
mother her problem. She seek for help and advice from them, and that’s a good thing. She have self
confidence that her family will support her in times of trouble.

Cognitive Development
In disciplining their child, they ensure that they do rules that are not goof for her. When her
mother scolded her, she mustn’t answer back. It is a form of respect not only to her parents but to
oldies as well. Her mother won’t let the child to do cellphone all the time. Before doing it, she must
do and finish household chores because her mother always told that they don’t have a maid to do it.
And if she fails to do so, her cellphone will be capture. In terms of her excellence in her studies, her
mother makes sure that she will finish all the assigned works on time to avoid rush. To ensure her
studies now, her mother monitor her schoology account to monitor if she passed all the activities or
assignments required. Paula is good in English ad Science. But little do she knows that she have
difficulties in learning math. However, she is interested in Arts. Like drawings and coloring artworks.
She learns fast and participates actively in class discussion.

Findings
The child is a shy type but friendly in the sense that she communicates where she knows she is
comfortable with. I can sense that she is talented where she love Arts and drawings. She is also good I
dancing which makes her even more talented. Though I can’t observe her behavior in their home, I
can conclude that she is actively participating in class. Because she throw concerns to her teacher.
Indeed home and school partnership can reflect one’s behavior of a student. She is motivated at
home and with her studies knowing that there is her parents to support and guide them.

Conclusions
i therefore conclude that school and home partnership truly contributes to the over-all
development of a child. From its cognitive, psychomotor and affective domain and so as to the total
personality of a child. However, the child learn first at home through the guidance of her parents.
Nevertheless, school plays an important role in enriching and molding the child. School environment
really affects the learning of a student. The peers or friends she will choose that can bear her
knowledge and values to shared with is another impact. But, it depends on how the school nurture
the child, where and how to provide the quality education she deserves. In addition to this, the child’s
eagerness to absorb learning and values in the school is the most important.

Recommendations
Parents should mostly dedicate their time on their child. Do not be blind in terms of supporting
your children’s studies, interests and habits. For teachers, through technology it is a great way to
provide quality education your learners deserve. Their parents are your shoulder to tap with this
matter. That is why we need to secure the good relationship between home and school partnership.
ANALYZE
Your findings and recommendations in the Learners Development Profile will help you answer the questions
here.

1. From your home visit and interview, what do you think is the style of parenting experienced by the learner? Explain
your answer.

-when I interview the learner’s parents, I think the style is authoritative. Her parents are kind and do not expect
too much in terms of her studying. Rules are not too serious/tight nor loose. They know how to handle their child, they
show support to their child and I think that makes them supportive.

2. Relating your data with what your learned from child development, what family factors do you think contribute to
the development and over-all adjustment of the leaner in school.

-parents are the number one supporter of a child. Family factors such as supportive and caring will eventually
contribute to the over-all adjustment of the learner/child in school. Is his/her family is supportive and caring, then we
expect that the child will be productive, competent and have a greater ability to show and prove himself/herself. When
problem are present, he/she may have self-control knowing that he/she has a shoulder to tap on and a family to consult
and gain wisdom.

3. Does the communication between the home-school have an effect on the learner? If yes, what are these effects?

-yes of course. It gives so much impact to the development of a child. Because students consume 10 months of
their time in school or studying, that is why teachers are given in guiding and molding students, yet not only the people
involved that is tasks to child’s growth and development. Parents are also involved to guide the learners behavior at
home. If there are any problems, then the teacher or parent will there to guide. Home-school partnership gave exact
description of the word “connection”.

4. How can the teacher partner with the community to contribute to the development and learning of the students?
Who are the people or which institutions can the teacher tap to seek advice regarding the development and learning
of students?

-school with the community partnership serves as a foundation to a learner. Where he/she may entrust his/her
flaws, problems or even his/her achievements. This partnership will provide a positive relationships that can foster
engagement, quality education, motivation among students. But in order for this to be effective, the teacher can tap and
gain information to the parents of the learner/guardian, assessing or home-visit is a factor. In addition, school have this
program called “Family Day” to ensure behavior and evaluate the impact of his/her family/home to the learner. But due
to pandemic programs like this is prohibited, though we can call on them. Provide time to meet them and talk to them,
at least.
REFLECT

1. Reflect on your own development as a child. What type of parenting did you experience? How did if affect you?

-I believe that I have an Authoritative parents. It made me realize that it is not good for students to hold them
tight on their neck. Not to loose nor tight. Social factors like parenting is one great role in nurturing child’s character and
lucky am I that it really contributes to my overall way of developing. It made me realize that it is not always good for a
student to make him/her be your expectations. My parents do not demand and pressure me, yet they support me for
what I can and what I really want to be. As long as I exert my very best, it is enough, they are still proud and advice that
whatever I will do, commit it to the Lord.

2. As a future teacher, how would you establish good home-school collaboration? How can you work well with the
parents? How can you help them? How can they help you?

-as a future teacher I will establish a good home-school collaboration is by being a partner in nurturing and
guiding the learners. This partnership plays an important role with regards to addressing learner’s need and experiences,
to build rapport and gain information. A regular communication with the parents that monitors students behavior
outside the school premises is one of the way to know how to address students learning capabilities. We can help
parents to inform the behavior of their children in the school. Same as to with you gain information about a certain
student that eventually affect the way you will respond to its needs. And when these factors are observed, then an
effective communication between home and school partnership will provide a quality education that every learners
deserve.
