OBSERVE
Read the following carefully before you begin to observe/interview. Then write your observation
report on the space provided.
The Learner
1. Make a general observation of the learner. Describe him/her in each of the domains of development:
● Physical body
Learner is not that talkative; however, he is close to his teacher and is friends with everyone in
the classroom.
● Emotional moods
● Cognitive
The learner belongs to the star section and is quite active in class.
1. What are the most noticeable characteristics of the learner? (emotional disposition,
behaviour and discipline, sense of responsibility , study habits, academic performance,
relationship with peers, relationship with adults, social adjustment).
At present, it's clear that student is still in the process of adapting to the new full-face-
to-face learning modality introduced this school year. Many of them are facing challenges when
it comes to working independently on tasks. Regarding his academic performance, he find it a
bit challenging to grasp instructions easily, and he often show a need for additional support and
consideration.
2. How does the teacher communicate with the parents? How often? What do they
discuss? How do they decide of the best course of action to resolve issues or problems?
We have established group chats to facilitate open communication with parents, with a
particular focus on addressing both the behavioral and academic aspects of their child's
education. This is especially important since their children are in the advanced class, and
parents are understandably attentive to their academic development. In managing concerns,
we are meticulous in adhering to established protocols, ensuring that our actions are geared
towards enhancing their child's well-being and educational experience.
3. How does the teacher utilize resources in the community to support the teaching-
learning process? How does the teacher work with the community to meet the needs of the
learners?
We've organized engaging activities that involve inviting experts and professionals to
share their insights on specific topics with our students. Additionally, we've developed club-
based initiatives that encourage students to actively participate in community service, allowing
them to apply what they've learned in meaningful ways.
Your teacher may ask you to use a more detailed interview guide. Be free to translate the questions, if
necessary.

Physical Development
Based on the provided information, the learner's physical development appears to have been
influenced by positive factors. The mother's good health during pregnancy suggests a potentially
favorable prenatal environment, which can contribute to the child's overall physical development. The
absence of ailments or health problems during pregnancy further supports this positive environment.
The learner's developmental milestones, such as starting to walk at the age of 3, indicate a somewhat
delayed but within the typical range of physical development. While this might be considered slightly
later than average, it's important to note that children can vary widely when they reach such
milestones.
The learner's food preferences, which include a willingness to eat any food, suggest a balanced and
adaptable diet, which can contribute to overall physical well-being and development. Lastly, the fact
that the learner was cared for by their aunt as a child doesn't provide direct information about
physical development, but it does imply the presence of a caregiver who likely ensured the child's
basic physical needs were met, which is crucial for healthy growth and development.
Social Development
Based on the provided information, the learner's social development appears to be quite positive. The
fact that the child is described as friendly and outgoing and has a lot of friends both at school and in
the neighborhood suggests that they have developed strong social skills and are comfortable
interacting with others. The mention of playmates, including named friends like Wilfred, Arc, Philip,
and Clarence, further indicates an active social life and engagement in peer relationships, which is a
vital aspect of social development during childhood.
The learner being allowed to play outside and go out with friends suggests that they have
opportunities for social interaction and are encouraged to build and maintain friendships outside of
the home environment. The rules set by the parents, such as early bedtime, limited outdoor playtime,
and dedicated study time, show a balanced approach to social development. These rules ensure that
the child's social activities are balanced with other important aspects of their life, such as rest and
education, which can contribute to a well-rounded social development.
Emotional-Moral Development
Based on the data collected during the interview, the learner's emotional and moral development
seems to be nurtured in a positive manner. The guardian's expectations for the child to finish their
studies and grow up as a good kid indicate a focus on both academic and moral development,
suggesting a holistic approach to the child's upbringing. The encouragement for the child to play and
interact with friends demonstrates an effort to provide a nurturing environment that promotes
socialization and emotional well-being, which are essential for emotional development.
The fact that the child turns to their mother when feeling down or facing problems suggests a healthy
attachment and open communication within the family, which can contribute to emotional
development by providing a secure base for the child to express their feelings and seek guidance.
Furthermore, the use of positive reinforcement and communication when the child is not successful in
something indicates a constructive approach to handling challenges. This approach can help the child
develop emotional resilience and a strong moral foundation by emphasizing learning from setbacks
and understanding situations rather than punitive measures.
Cognitive Development
Based on the data, the learner's cognitive development appears to be actively nurtured with a mix of
strengths and challenges. The child's interests in playing basketball and Roblox show a range of
cognitive engagement, from physical activities to digital gaming, indicating a diverse set of interests
that can contribute to cognitive development. The child's good performance in school suggests strong
cognitive abilities and an effective learning environment. However, the difficulty the child faces in
English indicates a specific area of challenge, which may require additional support or resources to
address.
Monitoring the child's school performance and daily check-ins by the mother demonstrate an active
involvement in the child's education, which can have a positive impact on cognitive development. The
establishment of rules at home, such as a set bedtime, limited outdoor playtime, and dedicated study
hours, reflects an effort to create a structured and supportive environment for the child's cognitive
development, ensuring that academic responsibilities are balanced with other aspects of the child's
life. These rules are implemented through consistent supervision and guidance from the mother.

exhibits friendly and outgoing behavior, actively engaging with peers and friends, which is crucial for
social development. They are allowed to play outside and spend time with friends, further fostering
their social skills and relationships. Rules and boundaries are in place to ensure a balanced approach
to social development.

Recommendations
ANALYZE
Analyze your findings and recommendations in the Learner Development Profile will help you answer
the questions here:
1. From your home visit and interview, what do you think is the style of parenting experienced by the
learner?
Based on the data provided in the interview, it appears that the learner is experiencing an
authoritative style of parenting. This style is characterized by a combination of warmth and support, as
evidenced by the mother's active involvement in the child's life, open communication, and
encouragement, along with the establishment of clear rules and boundaries to provide structure and
guidance.
2. Relating your data with what you learned from child development, what family factors do you think
contribute to the development and over-all adjustment of the learner in school?
The family factors that likely contribute to the learner's development and overall adjustment in
school include a supportive and nurturing home environment with an actively involved parent, which
promotes emotional security and open communication. Additionally, the establishment of rules and
routines for study and playtime demonstrates the family's commitment to providing structure and
balance, contributing to the learner's academic and social development.
3. Does the communication between the home-school have an effect on the learner? If yes, what are
these effects?
Yes, communication between the home and school can have a significant effect on the learner.
Positive and consistent communication fosters a supportive learning environment where the child's
needs and progress are understood and addressed, leading to enhanced academic and emotional
development. In contrast, a lack of communication or ineffective communication can hinder the
learner's educational progress, as it may result in unaddressed issues and missed opportunities for
support and collaboration between home and school.
4. How can the teacher partner with the community to contribute to the development and learning of
the students? Who are the people or which institutions can the teacher tap to seek advice regarding the
development and learning of students?
Teachers can partner with the community to contribute to the development and learning of
students by collaborating with local organizations, parents, and community leaders. They can seek
advice from school counselors, educational psychologists, and social workers who have expertise in child
development and learning, as well as engage with local parent-teacher associations (PTAs) and
community centers to access valuable resources and support networks for students.
REFLECT
1. Reflect on your own development as a child. What type of parenting did you experience? How did it
affect you?
During my childhood, I did not have the privilege of experiencing gentle parenting. Despite
receiving financial support from my parents, I often lack emotional support from them. In the realm of
parental discipline, my mother consistently assumes the role of the disciplinarian, while my father
prefers to adopt a passive stance, refraining from intervention when my mother reprimands or inflicts
physical harm upon me. Growing older, it has negatively affected my emotional well-being, as seen by
my tendency to isolate myself from others and exhibit uncontrolled rage. During my childhood, I did not
receive adequate instruction in effective communication of my emotions. Due to the fear instilled within
me that expressing my feelings to my parents, particularly my mother, would result in scolding. It has
been hard for me to experience that type of parenting, it made me develop a lot of issues in my teen-
age and adult life that I still try to conquer up to this day.
2. As a future teacher, how would you establish good home-school collaboration? How can you work
well with the parents? How can you help them? How can they help you?
As a future teacher, establishing good home-school collaboration is crucial for the success of
students. I would start by actively reaching out to parents early in the school year to introduce myself,
set clear expectations, and invite their involvement. Regular communication through emails and parent-
teacher conferences would be maintained to keep parents informed about their child's progress, and I
would create opportunities for them to participate in school activities and volunteer in the classroom.
It's a two-way partnership where I can benefit from their insights about their child's needs and learning
style, and they can support me by reinforcing classroom lessons at home and participating in school
events and initiatives.
