Introduction

In this SBA the researchers were tasked with the questions “How do video games affect the
exercising habits of children ages 12-15?”. Over the course of the school year they gathered
information by different mediums and used them to come to a final conclusion to their
question

Methodology

The researchers used a questionnaire in order to gather accurate information in a concise

and simple manner. Google forms was utilized as it could reach many people with little time
or effort involved due to its online nature. It also automatically gave percentages as to how
questions were answered for an easier and quicker analysis

Presentation of Data
Analysis and Interpretation

After accumulating the results of the questionnaire the researcher did a thorough
analysis of the data and came to these conclusions. Firstly the majority of
respondents were male being 66.7% to 33.3% respectively with only male
respondents claiming to play video games. As well, most respondents were over the
age of 12-15 but had friends or relatives within those age ranges. Those who play or
who’s relatives play video games also stated they would play between 1-3 or 3-6
hours of gaming; this is higher than their time when exercising with respondents only
exercising for 30 minutes to 1 hour of exercise daily every 1-3 days. When asked
why respondents played video games the general consensus was a mix of leisure
and as a way to relieve stress, ironically however when asked if their mood changed
after gaming 66.7 percent of respondents stated that it didn't change with the other
33.7 percent stating that their mood was negatively impacted. Finally when given the
option to either play for 30 minutes then play for 3 hours and vice versa the
responses were split evenly with each 33.7% of respondents picking one option or
neither.
