TITLE: Heat Transfer through motion of Sand.

APPARATUS: Mason jar with cover, 2 disposable cups (Styrofoam), masking tape, sand,
thermometer, stopwatch.

DIAGRAM:

METHOD:

1. Pour the sand in to the jar using one of the Styrofoam cup until it is about three-
quarters full.

3. Close the jar and Shake for two (2) minutes
4. Open the jar and measure the final temperature of the sand
5. Repeat (1 to 4) for 4, 6, 8 and 10 minutes respectively.
6. Tabulate the result and plot a graph of time (s) against the average final sand
temperature
7. Determine the slope and state four (4) necessary precautions.
8. In the process of shaking the sand what did you observe or what happened
