Example 1

I am reliable and enthusiastic having recently completed my A-levels, gaining an excellent Business
Studies grade complemented by good grades in both Mathematics and ICT. I would like to pursue a
career in accountancy as from an early age I have enjoyed my Mathematics courses especially the
statistical side. I thrived doing calculations at school where I achieved an A in Maths at GCSE level for
my efforts. During my time at high school I also started working for a local accountant after school,
which I greatly enjoyed. Experiencing what an Accountant did first hand was very rewarding as I
began to learn the basics of accountancy. Being numerical minded, with a systematic detailed
approach to tasks, I have an ambition to succeed and develop my skills in a work based setting.

Example 2
I am an eager and driven individual with a passion for completing tasks to the highest standard. I am
very proficient when working alone reaching individual targets as well as striving to achieve goals as
a part of a team. Building these skills have helped develop my time management which in turn has
strengthened my abilities to effectively schedule and priorities my workload in an organised manner.
I am looking to find an apprenticeship within a fast paced, professional environment that I can
develop my skills with the potential of long term career progression in the accounting field.

I have always had a keen interest in accounting; it is a career that I can see myself developing in. My
goals now center on studying and completing full AAT courses. Then eventually move on to ACCA
training. In 5 to 7 years I see myself completing the necessary qualifications, working as a fully
qualified accountant

Example 3
I am a hardworking, dedicated and motivated 25 year old with 5+ years of hospitality experience and
18 months in the construction industry working in Australia. I eagerly take on new challenges and
job roles to test and learn more about myself and ultimately the career path I decide to choose. I
have always studied and displayed an interest in the business world, couple this with my
Mathematical ability, now looking back I realise that I should have combined the two and carried on
into University or an Apprenticeship to begin my career in Accountancy. I believe I would be an
excellent fit for an Accountancy apprenticeship because I possess the knowledge and personal
qualities one would desire to have to succeed in the field.

Example 4
I am a third year Economics student aspiring to go into the Accounting Sector. Having already
completed two work placements in the Risk Division of Lloyds Banking Group, I have confirmed a
keen interest in the industry. This was developed further at York, through econometric modules as
part of my degree. This has provided me with a background through my work placements, as well as
broadened my knowledge in the statistics field. I plan to build on my analytical skills and gain
knowledge in how the theory is applied.

A resourceful, hard-working, and highly motivated individual with great interpersonal skills and the
ability to communicate concisely at all levels. An energetic, ambitious and enthusiastic person who is
driven by high standards and always aims to complete tasks within deadlines.
