Requirements:
● Applicants must be a winged manned (11X) or unmanned (18X) pilot with a current Air Force flying class 1
medical. All medical waivers MUST be complete before applying for this position, we will not hire with
waivers pending/needed.

● Must be O-4 with less than 3 years time in grade or below. We are not entertaining control grade hires (O-
5 and above) or any officers passed over for promotion to O-4/O-5 at this time.

● Must be able pass Air Force physical fitness test.

● Must not have UIF or other disciplinary action in personnel records.

● Prefer personnel with ties to Tucson/live in the local commuting area (Tucson metro) or be willing to
relocate.

● Current and qualified MQ-9 pilots preferred

● Launch/Recovery and Instructor/Evaluator experience desired

Training Pipeline Overview:


● PIQ: 6 month TDY – March ARB, CA; Syracuse, NY; or Holloman AFB, NM

● Seasoning: 60 days minimum of active duty orders at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ

Expectations After Training:


● 1 weekend per month (Unit Training Assembly/Drill)

● Current and Qualified: Expectation is to be proficient in the aircraft and have the basic knowledge and
proficiency of a combat ready aircraft commander. 214th minimum is 4 duty days on average per month (2
UTA and 2 flying days) to meet currency and proficiency standards. Showing up and flying once a month
will not cut it.

● Allowed up to 72 Additional Flying Training Periods (AFTPs)

● Full year orders are potentially available pending funding and squadron manning.

● Be an active and productive member of the 214th Attack Squadron and “pull their weight” around the
squadron.

Deployments/Work Schedule:
● The 214th ATKS is in a constant state of deployed operations from Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ. Deployments
away from Davis Monthan are rare and usually by request from the member. Limited TDYs for training
once qualified are possible at generally no more than 1 week at a time.

● Work schedule follows 3 separate 8 hour shifts to cover 24/7 operations. While flying you will be on a 5-
4-3-2 panama-style work schedule (5 days on, 4 off, 3 on, 2 off and repeat) and you will rotate shifts
every 6 weeks. It is required for you to maintain your rotation including overnight
shifts/holidays/weekends. No exceptions will be accommodated for medical/family/convenience except
in emergent situations.

● Do not apply for this position if you are unable or unwilling to work overnights/holidays/weekends.

● Leave is encouraged with appropriate notice and will be accommodated as the flying schedule allows.
