The given chart represents the total number of movies rented and sold in different formats from a

selected store between the years 2002 and 2011. The number of films sold and rented were given in
thousands and the various formats were VHS, DVD and Blu-ray.

Although DVD sales showed a positive trend in the start increasing from nearly 48,000 in 2002 to
204,000 in 2007, it then followed a negative trend reducing to 180,000 in 2011. However, DVD was
the type of format in which the highest number of movies were sold throughout the period. On the
other hand, Blu-ray sales showed a steady increase from about 2,000 in 2007 to 12,000 in 2011.

In contrast, the number of films rented by people fell from approximately 185,000 in 2002 to
140,000 in 2006 and then, finally to 58,000 in 2011. Similarly, the number of movies sold in the VHS
format reduced from nearly 85,000 in 2002 to 10,000 in 2005, after which it was discarded.
In some cases, people buy stuffs that are out of their budget or that they do not require which leads
them to debt trap. Theron, I will explaining the reasons for over shopping and the solutions that can
be implemented to reduce the problem.

There are many reasons for buying things that are not required: advertisement, fake schemes, and
many more. First, advertisement of discounted items such as phones or houses usually attract the
eyes of the buyer which leads them to buy those unnecessary items. For example, I got a phone as a
gift last year on my birthday. However, a discount on the latest Samsung phone pursued my dad to
buy me that phone with the money my dad borrowed from the office, even though I didn’t need it.
Second, many fraudsters who pretend to be marketers of renowned and famous companies often
fool their costumers by looting all their money and putting them into fix. For instance, my uncle
bought a house through an agent last year. The agent, who was a fraud, stole all the money and
then, my uncle had to arrange for extra money by taking debt to pay to the actual seller of the house
as he had already booked it.

Although this problem is really serious, proper implementation of the suggested solution might help
to an extent. Regulation of advertisements by the Government and preventing oneself from being
lured by such ads can help to a great extent. Also, arresting the fraudsters by locating and tracking
with the help of technology can also prevent such problems from arising.

To conclude, I would like to say that though spending excess on things that are not required is the
problem of many people, this problem could be solved if the suggested solutions are implemented.
