PROLIGA
Proliga is an annual professional volleyball competition in Indonesia organized by PBVSI. This
competition started in 2002 and has been running for twenty seasons. This competition is divided into
categories of men's competition and women's competition.
Proliga was first held in 2002 to be exact from February 1 to April 7 2002 and was held in five cities,
namely Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung, Yogyakarta and Gresik. The final party itself was held at Istora Gelora
Bung Karno Jakarta.
Proliga is the result of Rita Subowo's breakthrough, who at that time served as General Chairperson of PP
PBVSI. He saw a setback in volleyball both in terms of coaching, competition and achievement, for this
reason a more professional competition was needed.
The Proliga competition is expected to bring benefits in the form of regeneration and a place to hone the
skills of players at the national level. The Proliga volleyball competition also opens opportunities for each
team to bring in foreign players, which can improve the technical quality of each team's game.
The presence of foreign players with good quality can trigger the transfer of knowledge and experience so
as to increase the capacity of local players
