JUSTIFICATION

Today, the radiological flow exchange of DICOM medical images and clinical information is well
defined by digital technology. Imaging and Communications Standards in Medicine (DICOM) and
Health Level Seven (ie HL7). interoperability between information systems is specified by IHE
integration profiles (Integration the Healthcare Enterprise). However, due to the increase in the
dicomization of radiological studies, the reading and interpretation of the images are sent from the
PACS server to the staff of radiologists.

The objective of this tool is to optimize the radiological flow so that a classification of possible
diagnoses can be made based on AI automatically, with the aim of sending directly to the radiologist
specialized in a certain ailment or in the event that they are the reading carried out by a single
radiologist, achieve a classification in which the radiologist can intuit which studies should pay more
attention when interpreting the image.

DETERMINING OBJECTS IN THIS TOOL

This tool is made up of three main elements:

1. A receiver to receive DICOM images (SCU Client) and DICOM TAG classification for study
identification.

2. An image processing pipeline using an ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK in the COMPUTER

VISION version that allows prior learning and screening of images based on DEEP LEARNING
using the neural network called VGG16 - Convolutional Network for Classification and
Detection

3.
Por ejemplo:
When the neural network classifies the possible diagnosis, it would be sent with an alert to the
radiologist or sent directly to the specialist for interpretation, increasing the efficiency and speed of
radiological reading by 44%1.

4. Service for the redirection of the classified radiological study to the corresponding medical
radiologist for its reading
