Write an essay on what makes a good Foreign Affairs Secretary- a politically appointed
Secretary or a career diplomat?

I think what would make a better or even a good Foreign Affairs Secretary would be someone
who is already a diplomat—a career diplomat, if specifically choosing upon the two choices given
because someone appointed could not have the necessary credentials upon giving a proper job
as a Foreign Affairs Secretary; they only might be there because of the President’s favor, but not
because they specifically qualify for the job. Being a career diplomat before even being appointed
as a Foreign Affairs Secretary would mean that they would already be knowledgeable for the job,
as well as be able to keep up with the discussions without even having the need to waste time to
study for the job even more—which is something that other appointed secretaries do, since they
set out upon battle without knowledge of what they are to do.

Because of this, I think that every person liable upon the position should be trained for the
position so they would be informed about what to do or what not to do and would be able to
make better choices than those who are not informed and would just choose to head to the job
untrained, which could mean for drastic measures and even dangerous mistakes, since the
betterment of the country is at stake.
