To the parents,

Invitation to HIPPO 2023 – the 11th International English Language Olympiad

We cordially invite your child to participate in the coming HIPPO 2023 Preliminary Round from
12 to 16 of April, 2023. Your child can participate via “Online at Home”. If the school or the
school teacher host it in the school, he/she can join the physical test in school. Please check
with the school first.

The HIPPO English Olympiad 2022, which was completed on 28-30 October 2022 in Rome,
Italy, managed to attract 67,500 participants from 55 countries, where 6,500 participants from
approximately 1,000 schools in Malaysia demonstrated their excellent English language skills
in the competition. Inspired by this, we wish to encourage more of our students to participate
in the one of the largest global English events. The HIPPO 2022 was recognized by KPM
Bahagian Sukan, Kokurikum dan Kesenian under International level.

HIPPO English Olympiad is a well-known English language competition established since

2013 for primary and secondary schools globally, and for both public and private
(international) school students under the Regular and Special categories respectively.

HIPPO English Olympiad aligns to the Common European Framework of Reference for
Languages (CEFR). Internationally recognised and Ofqual regulated English language
qualifications are used throughout the Olympiad.

There are four competition rounds in HIPPO 2023: preliminary round, semifinal round,
qualifier and the world final round. The final round will be held in Rome, Italy, in October 2023.
The registration fee is RM60 per student to participate. For registration under the school, we
will be providing FREE workshop to help them to prepare for the competition. The students
will also be invited to join the HIPPO Speaking Community, on first come first served basis,
There is no extra fee for the semifinal or final round.

type of school and their year of birth) and download sample papers to try it out! Past year papers
will be provided free for registered users.
