TITLE: BIO ELECTROCHEMICAL BATTERY

1. OBJECTIVES/SCOPE: Please list the objectives and scope of the proposed topic. (25-•‐75 words)
A bio electro chemical battery is an energy storing device that is powered by organic compounds, has
great potential as a next-generation energy device. Bio electrochemical battery generates electricity
from renewable fuels (glucose, sucrose, fructose, etc) providing a sustained, on-demand portable
power source. Bio battery allows instant recharge compare to all the other batteries.

2. METHODS PROCEDURES, PROCESS: Briefly explain your overall approach, including your methods,
procedures and process. (75-•‐100 words)
Bio electrochemical battery produces power from sustainable powers (glucose, sucrose, fructose),
by using enzymes to break down glucose occur, while breakdown a few electrons and protons are
discharged. Bio electrochemical battery directly receive energy from glucose, consist of an anode,
cathode, separator, and electrolyte with each component layered on top of another. Anodes and
cathodes are the positive and negative areas on a battery that allow electrons to flow in and out.
The anode is located at the top of the battery and the cathode is located at the bottom of the
battery. The main function of the separator is to keep the cathode and anode separated, to avoid
electrical short circuits. Between the anode and the cathode lies the electrolyte which contains a
separator. The main function of the separator is to keep the cathode and anode separated, to avoid
electrical short circuits.
3. RESULTS, OBSERVATIONS, CONCLUSIONS: Please describe the results, observations and conclusions of
the proposed seminar topic. (100-•‐200 words)
The bio electrochemical batteries are environmentally friendly as they did not use harmful chemicals
or metals. Compared to conventional batteries, such as lithium batteries, bio-batteries are less likely to
retain most of their energy. This causes a problem when it comes to long term usage and storage of
energy for these batteries. However, researchers are continuing to develop the battery in order to
make it a more practical replacement for current batteries and sources of energy.

4. Please explain how this seminar will present novel (new) or additive information to the existing that
can be of benefit to a practicing engineer. (25-•‐75 words)
Bio Electrochemical batteries available by a high-energy density and it can be used easily at room
temperature, are totally non-polluting, renewable, and also environmentally friendly. Biobatteries are
very secure to use due to no leakage and explosions like chemical batteries. It allows instant recharge
compare to all the other batteries. These batteries keep themselves charged with the help of
continuous supply of glucose or sugar. It can be made using readily available fuel.
