SUMMITS
2023
THE INDIA STORY SO FAR
India is one of the fastest growing economies and the third largest consumer of primary energy in the
world after the US and China. India’s fuel energy security will remain vulnerable until alternative fuels
are developed based on renewable feedstocks. The government of India targets reducing the
country’s carbon footprint by 30-35% by the year 2030. These targets will be achieved through a five-
pronged strategy which includes: Increasing domestic production, adopting biofuels and
renewables, implementing energy efficiency norms, improving refinery processes, and achieving
demand substitution. This strategy envisages a strategic role for biofuels in the Indian energy basket.
The government of India had proposed a target of 20% blending of ethanol in petrol and 5% blending
of biodiesel in diesel by 2030 and introduced multiple initiatives to increase indigenous production of
biofuels.

Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaking on the World Environment Day, said the country
would now aim to achieve the target of 20% blending by 2025, instead of 2030. He said this was a move
that will not only prepare the country for energy transition, but also aim to support the livelihood of
farmers in the country.

Biomass has significant potential to boost energy supplies in populous nations with rising demand,
such as Brazil, India and China. It can be directly burned for heating or power generation, or it can be
converted into oil or gas substitutes. India, has approximately 750 million metric tons of biomass
available per year, out of which 230 million metric tones are in surplus covering agricultural residues
corresponding to a potential of about 28 GW.  This apart, about 14 GW additional power could be
generated through bagasse based cogeneration in the country’s 550 Sugar mills. Feedstock
availability and production cost are the key drivers towards sustainable and commercial production
and implementation of biofuels in India. A strong focus on technology is imperative for the
development of second generation and other advanced biofuels utilizing domestic feedstocks.

With this background and clear objective of creating an knowledge sharing and business platform ,
Indus Exposium brings to you the 1st edition of BBB Summits scheduled for 6th - 7th July at Hotel Le
Meridien , New Delhi.

BIOFUELS ■ BIOGAS ■ BIOPRODUCTS
6-7 July 2023, New Delhi, India
Biomass has always been an important energy source for the country considering the benefits it
offers. It is renewable, widely available, carbon-neutral and has the potential to provide significant
employment in the rural areas. Biomass is also capable of providing firm energy. About 32% of the
total primary energy use in the country is still derived from biomass and more than 70% of the
country's population depends upon it for its energy needs.
The summit will cater to the entire value chain including Biofuels, Biogas & Bioproducts bringing the
entire industry under one roof.
Most sought-after keynote speakers, academicians, scientists, chemists, engineers, industrialists,
young researchers, and experts in their field will be at the summit. In addition, it will feature several oral
and poster presentations. Part of Net Zero Summits, it will be one of the largest gatherings devoted
solely to recent advances and future trends in Bio-energy industry.
A very focused exhibition will showcase the latest tech & innovations in the bioenergy development
process and display a range of bioproducts.
We look for looking forward to meet you at the event and making it successful with your participation

THE OBJECTIVES
Showcase innovations, strengths and solutions
Ÿ For setting up of Biomass Briquette/Pellet manufacturing plants and to support Biomass (non-
bagasse) based cogeneration projects in Industries in the country.
Ÿ For creation of biogas plant facilities for Farmers/ Dairy Farmers / Individual organizations in Rural
Areas.
Promote
Ÿ Utilization of biofuels in the energy and transportation sectors
Ÿ R&D for undertaking need-based research; develop appropriate technology and extension
packages to attain the targeted output.
Ÿ Women empowerment & increase rural income.

Deliberations and updates on the latest policies and regulations affecting the industry

“SATAT envisages developing 5,000 CBG plants by 2023-24 with total CBG
production capacity of 15 million metric tonnes per annum, which is
about 40% of current CNG consumption of 44 million tonnes per annum in the country.
The CBG plants will also produce a by-product i.e
bio-manure and the same can be utilised in farming sector”
“Biofuels can power India’s growth in 21st century
and can generate additional income for farmers
and boost rural employment”
