Indigenous community building in relationship tothe tasks of addressing the real challenges, social

issues, and consequences of climate change.

The primary audience forthis essay is Indigenous Peoples and allies of Indigenous Peoples who are
actively involved in climatechange studies, sustainable community building, and education.

The author also challenges readers to initiate new thinking about how to use Indigenous science,
community building, andeducation as a tool and a body of knowledge which may be integrated with
appropriate forms ofWestern science in new and creative ways that serve to sustain and ensure survival
rather thanperpetuate unexamined Western business paradigms of community development

The paper is about how Indigenous communities develop their tasks in dealing with the practical
difficulties, social problems, and effects of climate change.

It is most effective to strategically apply indigenous science and community-based sustainability

education to prepare students for the rehabilitation of cultural economies centered upon an indigenous
paradigm of sustainability.

To start, research how to use the ideas of your indigenous method of sustainability in the present by
knowing about its past. Research must be done to determine how these Indigenous concepts and
knowledge might be used practically in conjunction with what is judged valuable from contemporary
knowledge and practice systems.

In order to meet their current requirements and the needs of future generations, indigenous people
must revive, re-learn, or otherwise sustain their traditional environmental knowledge. They must also
contribute what is suitable and relevant from other cultural knowledge traditions. Using Indigenous
communities' strengths in resourcefulness, ingenuity, teamwork, and cooperation will enable this.
