Prerequisite Software CRE_1907 can be installed on any CR 30-X digitizer independent on the
currently installed software and hardware.
IMPORTANT:
Software CRE_1907 has only been released with NX workstation software
NX 2.0.6805 SU1 / NX 3.0.6805 SU1 and higher versions.
If necessary upgrade to NX 2.0 6805 SU1 / NX 3.0.6805 SU1 or higher prior to
installing software CRE_1907.

1 Introduction
Upgrade Installation
Figure 1
Upgrade Installation
IMPORTANT:
Before starting any software installation activity at the control PC, switch off the
digitizer. Otherwise the digitizer driver on the control PC might not be installed
properly.
NOTE:
Windows 7 uses by default a driver for the FireWire interface which is not compatible
with the digitizer.
The “Legacy” type of FireWire interface has to be activated. Otherwise image
transmission will not work: The operating system of the Control PC will crash.

Upgrade Installation
(1) Select <START - Log Off (current user)> to log-off the current user.
(2) When the log-in screen appears login as "crservice".
(3) Exit the NX software via: <NX Main Menu - Exit NX>
(4) Exit the "Error Viewer" (The icon
is shown in the task bar as long as
the error viewer is active).
Figure 8
IMPORTANT:
Before starting any software de-installation activity at the control PC,
switch off the digitizer. Otherwise the driver for the digitizer on the
control PC will automatically be de-installed.
(6) Deinstall the digitizer software on the control PC: Select: <Start - Settings
- Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs - CR 30-X>
(7) If the message "You must restart your system ...." appears at the end of the
deinstallation process, continue with the steps described in section 11.1.
Otherwise continue with next section.
Upgrade Installation
NOTE:
For the initial installation of the NX workstation steps (1) and (2) are already done by
production.
IMPORTANT:
Do not change the suggested
default installation folder:
C:\Program Files\Agfa\CR 30-X\
Figure 9
Upgrade Installation
Figure 10
IMPORTANT:
If the “Found new hardware wizard” does not appear during initial installation of the
software, the driver for the digitizer possibly is not installed properly. Refer to section
11.3 for an instruction how to check and correct the problem.
Figure 11
Upgrade Installation
* In exceptional cases, if a software mismatch error 2712 appears after connection to the digitizer, an
upload of the digitizer software is required for initial installation, too.
Menu Exit NX". The Software Version loaded onto the digitizer
and that one installed on PC do not match.
(2) Switch on the digitizer: After Please perform the upload via Service Client.
IMPORTANT:
Do not upload the nodes individually, but use the <Select All> functionality, to mark
all three nodes for upload automatically. Reason: The software for the PMI board has
to be uploaded first before the software for the two other boards is uploaded.

appears in the message box. Refer to Figure 14.
If message "SW upload required" appears instead, refer to IMPORTANT note
next page.

Activity
Figure 14
IMPORTANT:
After upload of the selected boards, the PMI board is restarted. In some cases the
version check of the nodes fails like in this example for the PMI2 board:
Starting version check of nodes
PMI: installed version 'unknown/unknown'; file version 'CRE_1907/2104'
No controller with CAN-ID 0x780 found in machine
Controller HDL Board(0x780): installed version 'unknown'; file version 'CRE_1907'
No controller with CAN-ID 0x784 found in machine
Controller SSC Board(0x784): installed version 'unknown'; file version 'CRE_1907'
SW upload required.
Proceeding to fix the problem:
(1) Press button "Get installed versions to trigger the versopn check once more.
Message "Versions are current" appears (see Figure 14).
(2) If message "Versions are current" does not appear: Repeat the software upload:
Go back to step (8).
Upgrade Installation
* during initial installation (= activation of the NX workstation software or during NX clean installation
procedure) this step only has to be performed, if the software on the digitizer was below CRE_1907.
NOTE:
Together with software CRE_1907 a new type of fixer motor was introduced with
different motor characteristics.
Software CRE_1907 in general supports all types of fixer motors. To ensure that the
previous type of fixer motor runs at optimal speed a stall calibration of the fixer motor is
required however.
If the stall calibration is not performed during software upgrade, throughput would be
slightly decreased, as some movements of the fixer motor would be slower.
9 Performing a Backup
Upgrade Installation
(1) In the CR 30-X service client select the menu <Backup & Restore>.
(2) Keep the default settings as shown in Figure 15.
Figure 15
(7) Insert a backup USB stick at the USB port of the control PC.
(8) Copy the backup file stored on the partition <D:\> on the control PC to the
USB stick.
(9) Unmount and remove the USB stick from the control PC and store it on a save
place.
(10) Close the service client.
Figure 16

* These verification steps are also part of the digitizer installation instructions.
The following problems may occur during software installation at the control PC:
11.1 After Uninstallation of the Software the Message appears: “You must
restart your system …”
Figure 17
Cause The NX software or the error viewer have not been closed before software de-
installation.
11.2 After Uninstallation of the Software the "Found New Hardware Wizard"
appears
Figure 18
Cause Digitizer was not switched off during software uninstallation. In this case the digitizer
driver on the control PC will also be uninstalled.
Solution (1) Cancel the "Found new Hardware Wizard" and continue with software
installation. See section 5.
(2) Install the driver via "found new hardware wizard" which pops up automatically
after software upload to the digitizer (and restart of the control PC).

11.3 After initial Installation the "Found New Hardware Wizard" does not
appear
Symptom After initial installation the "Found New Hardware Wizard" does not appear. The
connection between digitizer and control PC cannot be established: The status LED at
the digitizer stays red blinking.
Solution (1) At control PC select: Start - Control Panel - Tab "Hardware" - Device Manager.
(2) Check whether “Imaging device” PMI or Agfa or CR30 is available.

driver is not properly installed.
Proceed with next step.
(3) This step has only to be performed for result B), PMI or Agfa or CR30 listed
under “other devices”:
- Right-click on the driver named “PMI or Agfa or CR30”.
- Select “uninstall”.
- Be sure to have digitizer switched on and the FireWire cable connected.
- Reboot the control PC.
- Re-install the digitizer driver as described in Figure 19.
