Population and Sampling Techniques

The population of the study is composed of the grade 12 Science, Technology,

Engineering, and Mathematics students of Pamantasan ng Cabuyao for the academic year

2022 - 2023. grade 12 students were selected as the study's target population as they have

already completed 3 semesters as senior high school students, thus, having more

experience in different types of teaching and in receiving academic feedbacks. Additionally,

the study will use stratified random sampling, with the students’ 1 st semestrial grades

serving as the strata. The stratified random sampling method was used as it allows the

researchers to collect data regarding the students’ academic performance, which is vital in

identifying one of the problems that the study aims to determine.

The 12th grade Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics strand of

Pamantasan ng Cabuyao is divided into fourteen (14) sections with a total number of 922

students. However, using the Slovin's formula, a statistical method of determining the

required sample size, the number of respondents will be reduced to a number that is

appropriate to the study’s total population size. The calculation that follows will demonstrate

how the study's sample size was determined:

Thus, 285 respondents are needed in total for the sample size for a population size of 922.

The sample population required for each section of the 12th grade of Pamantasan ng

Cabuyao is also shown in the table. The respondents of the study will answer an online

survey-questionnaire that the researchers have prepared.
