READING LIST FOR TESOL CERTIFICATE COURSES

In order to complete the Certificate in TESOL or the Certificate in TESOL

PLUS, Levels 3, 4 and 5 you need only the course materials. However the
following publications are recommended reading:

The Practice of English Language Teaching by Jeremy Harmer (highly

recommended)

Essential Grammar In Use (All levels) by Raymond Murphy (CUP)

Teach English - Teacher’s Workbook by Adrian Doff (CUP)

A Course in Language Teaching by Penny Ur (CUP)

All the above books should be available in a good library. However if you
would like to buy any of them they can be purchased from the Bournemouth

Please note that where you are required to answer an essay-type

question, it is not necessary to write 20 pages! A short essay of 1 or 2
pages will usually answer the question. If you wish to make reference to
supplementary reading please do so always quoting the source and the
author.
