From: Roland
Subject: Help with my homework

Hi,

For school, we have to write an essay about learning from mistakes. Can you help me with some
ideas? I just need you to answer a few questions. [Of course!]

Can you tell me about a mistake you made in the past and what happened? How did you learn
from it? [Tell Caroline.]

Actually my French teacher told me that I need to improve my French speaking and not feel so shy
about speaking. What about you? Do you feel confident speaking English? [Tell Caroline.]
Anyway, do you have any ideas about how I can improve my French? [Suggest some ways.]

Write back soon!

Caroline

EMAIL 2.

Read this email from your English-speaking friend Helen, and the notes you have made.

From: Helen
Subject: Next Saturday
Hi!

Mum has said it’s ok if I go to your house on Saturday so we can watch the Eurovision Song Contest
together! [Great!]

It starts at 7 p.m. doesn’t it? Do you want me to come just before 7 or shall I come earlier so we can eat
dinner together before it starts? [Tell Helen which you prefer.]

We should also have some snacks for when we’re watching it! What do you want me to bring? [Tell
Helen]

The programme finishes at 11 so we’ll probably be tired by then. Do you think it would be ok if I stay at
yours? [Sorry, no because …]

See you soon!

Helen
