There are many causes while game might not run, these are the most common

problems/fixes:

- (MAC) Drag and drop the content in the MacOS finder destroys some things, you
need to unzip in the shell. How-to at the end of a file.

- You've unpacked AL over older version, Astral Lust should always be unpacked to
an empty folder!

- You have deprecated or fault mod, move your mods out of AL folder(eg. to desktop)
and try again, if it doesn't work, delete/move persistent (next fix) and try again,
mod might have been corrupting it at launch.

- You play some sort of unoffcial release (like compressed version), these might
work, or might not work at all, try downloading from official source, links can be

- Your persistent was corrupted, you should delete persistent in AL/game/save

folder, then in C:\Users\[Your user name]\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\AstralLust delete
'persistent' file. You will lose all settings, and wallpapers by deleting
persistent, but not saves. Corruption usually happens after playing with console or
some cheat mods. All locations of persistent:

Windows - `C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\AstralLust`
Macintosh - `$HOME/Library/RenPy/AstralLust`
Linux -` $HOME/.renpy/AstralLust`

- Your antivirus is scanning the game at startup and causes launch to fail, disable
it for a while and try again. If it works, add exception to your antivirus. Your
antivirus (eq. Avast) can block Astral Lust if it's in protected directory (like
desktop). It will block Astral Lust when it tries to create log files. Here the fix
is to move your game elsewhere, or make an exception in antivirus. AstralLust32.exe
might show false positive, but it's very rare, you can delete this file if you
don't play on 32bit system.

- You have two save folders in C:\Users\[Your user name]\AppData\Roaming\RenPy,

something like '1485491_AstralLust' delete it, and game should work, only
'AstralLust' is used by the game.

These are 90% of cases, if it doesn't fix it there are still these fixes:

Ren'Py will fail to start on Windows if it's placed in a directory with a full path
that isn't representable in the current system language. For example, if Ren'Py is
in the directory:

C:\ビジュアルノベル\renpy-6.16.0-sdk\
(Special characters like dots might not work too, try to drop game to simple path,
eq. C:\\Games\AstralLust)

and the system is set to use the English language, Ren'Py will be unable to start.
To fix this problem, start the control panel, select "Region and Language Options",
"Advanced", and change the Language for non-Unicode programs. The file path can't
be longer than 255 characters on Windows, so if AL is hiden deeply in your disk,
try to move it to simpler location like C:\\Games\AstralLust.

A small fraction of systems may experience problems when running hardware
accelerated Ren'Py games. These problems are often due to buggy graphics drivers,
and so your first step to fixing them should be to check for an update to your
graphics card drivers.

----
If upgrading your video drivers does not fix the problem, you should consider
switching video renderers, using the following steps.

1. Hold down Shift while starting Ren'Py, or press Shift+G once Ren'Py has started.
2. From the "Graphics Acceleration" menu that appears, choose the renderer to use.
3. Choose "Quit", then restart Ren'Py.

We suggest trying the GL and ANGLE renderers. The GLES renderers may not function
on desktop hardware.

Try running AstralLust32.exe instead, or run game in Vista compatibility mode.

Ren'Py requires that your computer has functioning graphics acceleration hardware,
such as a GPU or a CPU with integrated graphics.

If you can't fix your game, check for traceback.txt in your AstralLust/ folder,
send it to me on Discord (https://discord.gg/rvnBC39USx). If traceback wasn't
generated, there is one thing left add AL Mod Toolkit
(https://mega.nz/file/9IdixbpQ#8-UTQxscq22lC27GqayTaQMYIqYL2EKDSy4czEYvvPo) to your
mods folder (AL/game/mods) and run game, if traceback.exe wasn't generated the
problem is most probably incompatibility between renpy and your system or graphic
drivers. You should wait for next Astral Lust version and check if the issue is
fixed, I try to update renpy each release or two. Still, let me know you have an
issue, tell me your system, graphic driver, and your rig specification, I can
supply that data to Renpy developer in hope he can fix that.
