After receiving the Doctorate in Science in 1974 from the University of Madras, Dr. Rajagopalan
Vasudevan joined the Thiagarajar College of Engineering in 1975 (TCE) as a faculty member. He focussed his
research on the methods of recovery and reuse of plastic waste. This is how the idea of plastic roads was born.
With his persistent research in his laboratory, he showed to the world a permanent Solution as to how plastic
waste can be used in laying roads. That made him popular as the Plastic Road Man. He transformed plastic
waste into a material that replaced a small portion of bitumen (tar) used in road construction. When APJ Kalam
visited the college, He presented to Kalam his project. Kalam told him that one day his test would become the

years now, starting with their kindergarten days. In his busy round of work Dr. Raman had not noticed that Gopal
had not called in for over three months now. One crowded morning Dr. Raman had a chance meeting with
Gopal's son who conveyed the message that his father was ill. Dr. Raman rushed to his friend's house as soon as
he had finished the operation. When he reached Gopa's house, he found his friend in a bed ridden-condition.He
started treatment of his friend after he talked to his wife. The patient was staring at the doctor appealingly. The
doctor said to himself, If my word can save his life, he shall not die. Finally, he chose to use his assuring words.
And the Doctor's word wrested Gopal from the Jaws of death.

A baron from the ghetto saw a beautiful, married lady in an exhibition and developed an immoral liking for her. He
thought she would yield to him as she had modest income. But she felt insulted as she valued self-respect more
than anything else. when he expressed his desire,she wanted to take revenge on him. When the licentious baron
prepared to do anything to have her, she proposed that she would listen to him if he was ready to receive twenty
five lashes. The agreement was made. On the scheduled day, she mercilessly beat him twenty-four times with a
whip. One more cut would have taken her to him. But the clever, little lady intentionally skipped giving him the
twenty-fifth cut. She mockingly laughed at him and reminded that she would yield to him only after he received
twenty-five lashes. On her mentioning that she had witnesses, her husband and two other men came from behind
the curtain leaving the baron in shock and grief.
