CLASSIFICATION OF PULPAL PATHOSIS

Based on the classification created by Prof. Arabska-Przedpelska

II. Reversible pulpitis

I. Normal pulp

•Tooth caries
exposure of the pulp during fracture of the crown (trauma)
•Non-carious lesions (abfraction,
exposure of the pulp during grinding preparation
abrasion, attrition, erosion)
• Accidental pulp exposure
• Accidental pulp injury
• Carious pulp exposure

BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT

III. Irreversible pulpitis

vital pulp non-vital pulp

1) pulp necrosis
2) gangrene of the pulp
REMOVAL OF THE PULP
BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT

Endodontic Procedures
Pulp capping
A covering is placed over an exposed or nearly
exposed pulp to encourge the formation of irritated
dentin at the site of injury

Indirect pulp cap is indicated when a thin partion of

dentin is still intact

Direct pulp cap is indicated when the pulp has been

slightlu exposed
BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT

Vital pulp therapy. (a) Indirect pulp capping; (b) direct pulp capping; (c) pulpotomy.
(D = Dentin; P = Pulp; CM = Capping material; F = Filling).
