Test safety
Tests on batteries can generate potentially dangerous situations, since they are
carried out by simulating the limit conditions that may occur when there is a
transfer of energy
energ from the batter
battery to the electric motor or d
during
ring the batter
battery’s
’s
fast recharge phase. These situations, in fact, may generate strong overheating or
the formation of dangerous atmospheres.
To handle and solve these problems, our chambers are equipped with all the
instruments necessary for monitoring potentially dangerous parameters and the
following main devices which are activated to eliminate any risk conditions:
• Smoke sensors
• Dangerous gas (H2; O2; CO; CO2; …) sensors
• Stabilization system
• Flame extinguishing system

Electrically Isolated Test Enclosure

An electrically isolated and perforated mounting shelf is also included; the
specifically designed perforated shelf ensures both electrical isolation and
consistent airflow around the test item.

Complete Software and Control System
The new battery test chamber range from ACS incorporates CAN bus interfacing to
the battery ECU as a standard option , the chamber software and control system
is also designed to interface with Industry standard loading and unloading systems.

Optional customer defined isolated power and signal connections for external
electrical loading of customer test items within the chamber are available.
ESS chambers

ESS can achieve two major product improvements

for the manufacturer:
- improve product reliability thus enhancing the
company’s reputation in the market-place.
- lower warranty costs by highlighting failures in
the factory which without screening would
occur in the field.
The objective of the ESS process is to highlight,
during the manufacturing process time, the
relatively high level of failures that can occur in
the early life period of the product. If not found
early, these defects would manifest themselves
after shipment leading to much higher warranty
costs The process usually involves subjecting the
costs.

High Vacuum Test chambers

Since the real beginning in 1932 ANGELANTONI INDUSTRIE have always been
facing new technical challenges.
In the field of environmental testing the highest
objective was achieved in 1988, with the design and
production of complex test chambers to artificially
create the operating conditions (temperature and
high vacuum) of equipment used on board of
spacecrafts and satellites, or of a whole satellite.

Angelantoni Industrie are proud to have become one

the first three worldwide leaders in this specific
field, which represents one of the most demanding
industrial environments.

This has been possible thanks to a skilled and “passionate” team of engineers and
manufacturing professionals,
professionals besides selected Italian and international partners.

diameter and 11 m depth simulating space environmental conditions to test an entire spacecraft
or parts of it. This is the biggest space simulator designed and manufactured by Angelantoni since
1988.

Temperatures vary between -180°C and +150°C (using 15 independent shrouds) and vacuum
reaches the limit of 10–7 mbar thanks to special cryogenic pumps running at 10°K (-263°C).
The space simulator was completely designed
in Italy by Angelantoni technical staff; eight
engineers, already skilled and experienced in
this kind of big thermo-vacuum plants, worked
at this project supported by Indian engineers
that locally collaborated developing a part of
the S/W and during the installation phases.

Particular satisfaction has been expressed by
the Director of the ISRO Department

simulator, Dr N.K. Misra. In his speech to the
delegation, Dr Misra underlined not only the
high level of technical abilities of the
Angelantoni staff and of the other partners
who have contributed to the realization of the
project, but also the positive and precious
collaboration established from a human point

years of job.
The first tests on the ISRO satellite have
already been carried out in September 2006
with completely satisfactory results,
confirming this project as a first brilliant
example of collaboration between the Italian
and Indian enterprises operating in the space
field.
