This document outlines an assignment to examine the impact of coal mining on the environment and worker's health. Coal mining causes massive damage to ecosystems through the degradation of natural resources and destruction of habitats. It is one of the largest industries in the world but provides little information on the health of coal mine workers. Prolonged exposure to coal mine dust can cause respiratory damage and diseases like tuberculosis, heart disease, lung cancer, liver disease, and kidney disease. The assignment will focus on the health implications for coal mine workers and guidelines to improve conditions, as well as the effects of mining on vegetation and the environment.

HEALTH ABSTRACT : Coal mining causes massive damage to the ecosystem as a whole Coal is recognized to have been the major source of energy in India. Coal is mainly mined using two methods - "surface' or 'opencast and underground mining. The geological condition of a place determines the method of mining. Coal mining is associated with the degradation of natural resources and destruction of Habitat. It is also one of the largest and oldest industries in the world. However, no information is available regarding the health status of coal mine workers. Along with machines, large number of humans are also employed in the Coal Mines industry. Air pollution and the dust or two major factors that affects health of workers. Workers are always at risk of getting respiratory damage. Prolonged exposure to coal mines dust may cause a variety of diseases like tuberculosis, heart disease, lung cancer, liver disease, kidney disease, pneumonia & reproductive disorders This paper focuses on the health implications of coal mine workers and the guidelines regarding it. This paper also looks upon the impact of mining on vegetation and environment.
