Why is the war not stopping?

The Palestine-Israel war involves 2 nations and many others regarding support. It is obvious that
the two nations that are at war are Palestine and Israel. In this case, the type of conflict is considered
international. International conflicts are conflicts between two or more nations. The two nations are
both fighting for territory as one of them will seek independence. The conflict has been occuring ever
since the 1960s as there was an argument between Israel and Palestine regarding who owned the land.
Not only Palestine and Israel that are involved but other nations that provide support are the United
States and Russia. The United States recognizes Israel as a nation but does not recognize Palestine as a
nation. But Russia has a different perspective, Russia recognizes Palestine as a nation but does not
recognize Israel as a nation. So it means that the United States is backing up Israel and Russia is backing
up Palestine.
Other allies that are supporting Palestine from the G20 Summit are: Argentina, Brazil, China,
India, Indonesia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Turkey. Those are the 9 countries that recognize
Palestine as a nation. The 10 countries that recognize Israel as a nation from the G20 Summit are:
Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, The United Kingdom, and The
United States. Although these nations haven't provided any forces to back the supporting countries, they
are supported through social media and also provided medical aid from donations around the world.
Joko Widodo who is one of the world leaders who support Palestine's independence has said this
through his main Twitter account after the Israel air strike. "Indonesia strongly condemns Israeli’s attacks
which has resulted in the loss of lives of hundreds, including women and children. Israel aggression must
be put to a stop". So most of the support from the allies are mostly off the pitch rather than on the pitch.
From my perspective, the type of this conflict is considered as "Conflict over Values". This
conflict is where two nations have different beliefs. Both nations think the land belongs to one of them.
Palestine people believed that the land belonged to them because the Egyptians and the ottoman
empire (Turkey today) used to own that land and has many Islamic ties to it. But because the Ottoman
empire lost to the British forces in 1918, the league of nations approved and officially announced that
the British will rule the land that was formally palestine before taken by the ottoman. The league was
created until Palestine became independent but the British think otherwise. They wanted to create a
new jewish nation in Palestine. Quoted from the news article called abc10.com, "Judaism emerged in the
Middle East, Islam emerged in the Middle East, and Christianity emerged in the Middle East, Atamaz
said. "They shared the same place for hundreds of years under the Ottoman Empire and there was no
war. What changed in the late 19th and early 20th century? We have a Jewish nation. We have British
colonialism. That kind of changed the dynamics in the region."
Zionism was introduced. This is Israel's national ideology. The zionist believed that the jews
should have their own state in the land of Israel, and have their own religion. Many jewish immigrants
went to Israel and it skyrocketed when Adolf Hitler came to power in the 1930s. It is estimated, over
20.000 Jewish people came from Europe to Israel. Although they agreed that the Jews should have their
own nation, they disagreed with the government system that was proposed. One zionist group wanted
to pursue peace with other Arab nations, the government to control the economy of the nation, and a
nation that isn't too religious. The other zionist group disagree, they didn't want to be the nation that
was too peaceful, less control from the government in terms of the economy, and wanted a more
religious nation. But the Arabs disagreed with Israel's proposal and were highly opposed to it. They think
that the jews have more privileges than the others which seems unfair to the Arabs. The Arabs labelled
the zionist as a "colonial" and "discriminating" towards Palestine.
The conflict has been emotionally tense so far. This conflict is one of the most longest and the
most controversial conflicts that is occuring right now. It has a complicated history which led them to this
situation. The two groups believed it belonged to one of them and until now, it hasn't been resolved
even when some solutions are proposed. This conflict even involved other countries. There have been
demonstrations from non-profit organizations around the world and even clashes in social media. One
demonstration occurred in Israel. Palestinan started a protest against evictions and residents of Sheikh
Jarrah. The police started to armed themselves with stun grenades, rubber bullets, and water cannons.
This led to severe palestinan injuries.
The resources and decision making are all created by the two states and their allies. Some allies
provided aid, donations, and also military forces to strengthen both sides. Some examples are the
relation between Israel and the United States.
The two parties or so called "States" meet every time whether they have negotiations regarding
the resolution of the conflict. So far, there is no healthy relationship between the two states as they have
been fighting for over 50 years. Although in 2013, the two states agreed on diplomatic terms and a
ceasefire occured in May 2021. But this was later discontinued after a couple of days since the ceasefire.
In order to resolve this problem, the Allies who are supporting the states need their support to resolve
this problem. The G20 summit is a conference where 20 big nations come together and discuss
situations regarding their nations. This conference could be used to propose solutions regarding the war
between Israel and Palestine. Palestine and Israel have known each other since the British proposed
Israel as a nation. The two countries are also aligned to one another. It is plausible that both know their
issues through media or communication between governments/intelligence from the two countries.
This conflict started when the British helped the jews to create a new state called Israel and they
will take some territory from Palestine. But the Palestinians somehow disagreed with this proposal and
started their first war in 1948 and it ended with an Israel victory. The country is divided into 3 states
which are: Gaza strip, West bank, and the whole state of israel. After the 1958 Suez crisis and the
Israelian invasion of Sinai peninsula. The Arab nations including Palestine created a defence pact against
Israelian military forces. After multiple wars, in 1979 the egyption government signed a peace treaty
with Israel. Around the 1980s, multiple Palestinians started camps in Israelian territory and started the
first intifada which they rose against the Israelian government. The second intifada started in the year
2000. In response to the issue, the Israeli government created a huge wall around the west bank despite
opposition from the ICC. In 2013, the United States proposed a peace treaty between Israel and
Palestine. But it was cancelled due to the alliance between Israel and Hamas (a group of muslims
following the first intifada).
The possible cause of this conflict could be the territory issue, basic needs unfulfilled, changes,
weapon using, something inherited, and differences. Israel wanted to claim the whole of Palestine. But
Palestine disagreed and believed that all the land belonged to them. There were also some Palestinians
that moved to Israel and started a coup. In effect, the Jews and the Arabs started a war that hasn't been
resolved over 50 years despite an agreement of splitting states. It also led to some protests against the
government and many people suffered casualties and injuries.
According to HumanRightsWatch.org, it is stated that Israel has committed war crimes violated
in the Gaza strip. It is investigated that the Israelian forces have killed 62 civilians in Palestine. The
violated rule that was caused by Israel from the Rome Statute or the ICC is "War crime" in Article 8
number 2 section B number 1 and 2. The first rule is "Intentionally directing attacks against the civilian
population as such or against individual civilians not taking direct part in hostilities" and the second rule
that was violated by Israel is "Intentionally directing attacks against civilian objects, that is, objects which
are not military objectives". A quoted statement by Gerry Simpsons said “Israeli forces carried out
attacks in Gaza in May that devastated entire families without any apparent military target nearby". A
report from the United Nations that records the number of fatalities towards the Palestine people stated
that there were around 260 Palestinans that were dead including 66 children.
Although there were many negotiations between Israel and Palestine, the most recent
negotiations were held on July 28, 2013. It is from the mfa.gov site that Israel approved diplomatic
relations between Israel and Palestine.According to mfa.gov, the two states wanted to proclaim peace.
So a meeting in the U.S congress in May 2011. Prime minister of Israel Netanyahu, wanted to seek peace
between the two states despite having to lose some parts of the Jewish land. He believes the speeches
he attended might actually end all the problems. But, this conflict is far from resolved. There was a time
when Israel and Palestine actually stopped fighting or known as "ceasefire".. The ceasefire happened on
May 10, 2021. But it lasted shortly as they started to fight again not long after the ceasefire. This
information is inspired by orfonline.org. The two states have disintegrated ever since the 1960s and they
are still divided. They will need to stop fighting in order to form as 1 or maybe at least a peace treaty. But
the condition gets worse every time. Only time will tell.
Peace treaty is always a solution in terms of resolving the conflict. It is mostly used when one
nation is outnumbered and when they lose a huge amount of territory. Peace treaty is commonly used
after the world wars and the countries who were first enemies actually become close allies. Some
examples are the treaty of versailles. Germany lost the first world war after losing a huge amount of
territory to France, Russia, and etc. After the treaty was signed, Germany started to become more
peaceful and was growing as a nation quite rapidly. But was later useless when Adolf Hitler came to
power.
Leaders could always find a solution based on past experience. Rules are not hard to violate.
Professionalism is one thing but fighting for your own belief is another thing. They would always ignore
the rules just to defend themselves. Rules are one of the best ways to stop conflicts as proven from the
treaty of versailles.
