INTRODUCTION (2 mins)

Listening is important to effective communication. Often, poor listening skills is one source
of misunderstanding. Good listening skills can lead to better relationships, friendships, customer
service, productivity, and sharing of information. Many successful leaders attribute their successes
in effective listening skills – listening to clients, listening to employees, and listening to peers.

In the listening sessions, you will listen to recorded or live information and then answer
questions. To aid your listening (and reading, writing, and speaking) skills, you will also have
grammar study and vocabulary study. In this course, we will target learning about 50 words per
Listening Session – giving you deliberate practice of 100 words a month. We will review grammar
and practice creating different kinds and different styles of sentences.
