    95% confidence interval means mean +/- 2x Standard deviation

    Thus,

    Mean + SD Mean - SD
    =12 + 2x3 =12 – 2x3
    = 18 =6

    So,

    Upper confidence limit: 18


    Lower confidence limit: 6
    Confidence interval: 18-6 = 12

    Interpretation: 95% of the values lie within the range between 6 and 18 kgs.
