Directions: As you listen to the Shadowing a Conversation video, use this script
to help you as you repeat the speakers’ dialogue. Circle or highlight the sounds that
are most difficult so that you can focus on these when you practice.

Pirate World

Jake: I hate theme parks. They’re the worst. /




Kevin: Why? What’s wrong with them? /


Jake: Just look at this ad for Pirate World: / “The most thrilling rides on earth!” / I threw
up on one of those rides. /


Kevin: That’s just terrible! /


Jake: They’re only thinking about money, too. / Seventy-three dollars for a ticket, / and
sandwiches for thirteen dollars? / You do the math. /


Kevin: But don’t you think it’s worth it? It’s so exciting! /


Jake: No! There are giant crowds and gazillions of children. / I wouldn’t be caught dead in a
theme park. /


Kevin: Thanks for telling me that. / I won tickets to go to Clown Town, and I was thinking of
inviting you. / But now, I won’t bother. /
