Duque: Until Duterte's term ends, the Philippines will most likely be on

Alert Level 1.

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines' pandemic response system will most

likely remain at Alert Level 1 until President Rodrigo Duterte's tenure ends in June,
according to the country's health chief. Authorities are still looking into the potential
of dropping the country to "Alert Level 0," according to Health Secretary Francisco
Duque III.
"Wala pang nabubuong policy patungkol sa Alert Level 0 at dahil marami pang
mga lugar ang nasa Alert Level 2,'yun muna ang inaatupag natin ngayon: tulungan
sila para ma-de-escalate to Alert Level 1," Duque stated.
Until the end of March, Metro Manila and 47 other localities are on AlertLevel 1.
Mayors in the capital region are ready for further loosening of pandemic
restrictions, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
Even as COVID-19 instances continue to fall, the health official stated that it is not
yet appropriate to lift the mask rule. "Hindi pa panahon ko para magtanggal ng
face masks," Duque remarked. "Matuto tayo sa karanasan ng iba't-ibang bansa sa
Europe."
(I believe it is not yet time to remove face masks; instead, we should learn from
the experience of European countries.) "Let us be cautious," he said, "and let us
be guided by evidence and research through our expert panel." Since the epidemic
began, the Philippines has confirmed approximately 3.67 million COVID-19 cases,
with 57,735 fatalities.
Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Central Visayas, and the Ilocos Region
were the regions that delivered the most vaccination doses throughout this effort.
The Bayanihan, Bakunahan 4 began on March 10 and was extended through
Friday, March 18, with the goal of vaccinating 1.8 million additional Filipinos
against the virus. According to the NTF's report released on Wednesday,
64,838,213 Filipinos have been completely vaccinated, with 11,291,687 receiving
booster injections or extra doses.
