Maths project-:

Compare the measures taken by their

governments in different countries for
COVID-19 pandemic.

The global pandemic which started

from China, Wuhan in 2019 gradually spread to all over
the world causing millions of death. It made most
countries economic structure more worsen many people
suffered from hunger and hardship, thousands lost their
jobs, people have to suffer due to this pandemic. But to
overcome it and fight it there were different ways
followed by different countries to finish it and to live
their lives normally. Let’s see about some countries
ways to overcome this virus…..
 United Arab Emirates-: UAE handled the pandemic
in a very effective manners. When the cases for the
coronavirus started rising United Arab Emirates
(UAE) announced a two-week lockdown on April 5
to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and announced
there will be disinfection drives. Prior to this, the
UAE had advised all citizens to restrict themselves
to essential travel only, and had implemented a
curfew between 8pm and 6am every day. UAE had
sealed its borders on March 26 and airlines
companies, Emirates and Etihad, had suspended all
flights. And then slowly the timings of lockdown
started to decrease due to the bit decrease in the
covid-19 cases. Abu Dhabi have ask the citizens to
show the negative results before entering Abu
Dhabi. The Schools were also shut down due to the
virus and decided to go online which later
continued to open in September with both face to
face and distance learning. The social distancing is
still very important and compulsory, huge public
gatherings are not allowed, one who go outside
must wear mask without any failure, tourism is
once again started in UAE. UAE leaders and the
citizens have worked very hard to overcome the
virus so that the countries citizens can live happily

without fear.
 new Zealand-: New Zealand, a modern small
island nation, has become an emblematic champion
of proper prevention and response to the
coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. “New
Zealand began implementing its pandemic
influenza plan in earnest in February, which
included preparing hospitals for an influx of
patients,” they wrote. “We also began instituting
border-control policies to delay the pandemic’s
arrival.” The first New Zealand COVID-19 case
was diagnosed February 26. A countrywide
lockdown—Alert Level 4—was implemented on
March 26. “After 5 weeks, and with the number of
new cases declining rapidly, New Zealand moved
to Alert Level 3 for an additional 2 weeks, resulting
in a total of 7 weeks of what was essentially a
national stay-at-home order,” authors wrote. It was
in early May that the last identified COVID-19
case was observed in the community; with the
patient placed in isolated, the country had ended its
community spread. On June 8, the New Zealand
moved to Alert Level 1—in 103 days, they had
declared the pandemic over in the country.
“Planning is under way for cautious relaxing of
some border-control policies that may permit
quarantine-free travel from jurisdictions that have
eliminated COVID-19 or that never had cases.”
However, the post-elimination stage of the
pandemic is not certain for safety. The authors
noted the only cases identified in the country are
via international travellers kept in government-
managed quarantine or isolation for 2 weeks post-
arrival. Failures of border control or continued
quarantine/isolation policies could result in new
spread. But there are takeaways from the early and
immediate successes of the New Zealand response.
The authors credited the combination of immediate
risk assessment driven by science, with the decisive
actions of the government. Additionally, the
country’s border-control strategies, as well as both
community-based and individual case-based
control measures, were overall effective in
eliminating the virus’ presence when mitigation
was no longer feasible. Lastly, the authors praised
their leader’s message.
“Prime Minister Jacinda
Ardern provided empathic
leadership and effectively
communicated key
messages to the public—
framing combating the
pandemic as the work of a unified “team of 5
million”—which resulted in high public confidence and
adherence to a suite of relatively burdensome
pandemic-control measures,” they wrote.

 Switzerland-: The Alpine nation has been ranked the

safest country in the world right now for Covid-19.
“Switzerland owes its stability to the constant search for a
path acceptable to all. This approach proved its worth during
the crisis. The government relied heavily on personal
responsibility and understanding; on arguments rather than
prohibitions and controls.” Thanks to an early lockdown and
an extensive testing, tracing and quarantine regime, the
feared disaster of a traumatic death toll and overwhelmed
hospitals never came to pass. After cases spiked in March
and April, Switzerland has had 31,016 confirmed cases of
coronavirus and 1,938 deaths out of a population of 8.6
million. So far this month, days without deaths are the norm.
Though with gatherings of up to 300 people now allowed
(with precautionary measures) and borders to the European
Union open without
restrictions from June 15,
the risk of a second wave
is still very real. Schools
began to gradually
reopen from May 11 and
the general mood over
the past month is one of
gratitude and relief as life
returns to normal. With the latest easing of lockdown
measures on June 6, everything is open again in Switzerland
from swimming pools to zoos. Restaurants have been
allowed to reopen since May 11. The SwissCovid app was
developed by the two Swiss

federal institutes of
technology in Zurich (ETH
Zurich) and Lausanne (EPFL). To be effective, the app
needs an uptake of around 60% among the population. The
app stores smartphone data in a decentralized system for 21
days, so that users can be notified if they have come into
close contact with infected people, that is within a distance of
less than two meters over a period of at least 15 minutes.
Switzerland was lucky enough to be in a strong financial
position at the start of this crisis so that it had the resources
to throw money at the problem. During the lockdown, some
190,000 companies sought state support payments for
almost 2 million employees whose hours were stopped or
reduced, 37 per cent
of the national
workforce.

 India-: India,
which has the second-
largest population in
the world is suffering severely from COVID-19 disease. By May
18th, India investigated ∼1 lakh (0.1million) infected cases from
COVID-19, and as of 11th July the cases equalled 8 lakhs. In the
beginning, coronavirus cases in India happened due to the abroad
connection rather than transmission within the country. The first
three infection cases occurred on 30th January and 3rd February in
Kerala as they returned from Wuhan China. On 24th March first
phase of 21 days lockdown started in India. Due to the growing
number of infestation from COVID-19, on 14th April , Indian
government declared an extended 2nd phase lockdown till 3rd May
which was further lengthened till 17th May and later imposed till
31st May. To make the lockdown and social distancing effective,
Nevertheless, in India COVID-19 cases reached 1,01,139 by 18th
May. Initially, it was considered that India was dealing well with a
low number of positive cases
from COVID-19 because of the
constricted transmission during a
lockdown and social distancing ,
however, at the end of all
lockdown phases, India
experienced a total of 1,90,648
confirmed case including 5407
deaths due to this disease. The
Indian government (central and state level) is working intensely to
minimalize the number of cases and consequences daily and is
taking all necessary steps to combat the challenges.
Earnest efforts of all the frontline workers especially medical
doctors, nurses, healthcare staff, sanitation workers, police
personnel, volunteers, and active support and obedience of people of
India has been the only possible reason owing to the control and
treatment of pandemic. Because of the population and population
density lockdown was needed. It should be mentioned that the
People of India followed the Government prescribed rules and were
knowledgeable about the drastic impact of COVID-19 hence tried to
abide by the regulations.
Different countries adopted different methods to
control the spread of the virus…. Many were
successful and many are still in the process of
defeating the virus... Let us hope that the world get
over this virus soon and everything be back to
normal...
