As a student and with this financial support program, will you venture

in an agriculture-based enterprise? Why?

The moment I read the materials in Module 4, the what ifs suddenly

appear in my mind. What if I give it a try? What if I take a risk and it would

turn out to be a good opportunity for me? What if despite being scary to enter

into business world, learnings and opportunities would make it worth it?

Honestly, it did excite me because having an agriculture-related business has

been a long time dream for me and knowing about this KAYA program shed

light again to this dream. I have been imagining myself having my own farm

and managing it through the assistance of other experts in this field.

Cultivating crops, researching how to improve and develop resilient crop

varieties, taking care of animals, and any other activities.

With this financial support program, I will definitely venture in

agriculture-based enterprise soon because I do not want this opportunity to

put into waste by making decisions while my knowledge and skills are not

yet suffice.

I am fully aware that agriculture primarily carries the country and it

could save our economy and future as well. However, the sector lacks

engagement and support from the youth and government. Through taking

risks and entering in the agriculture business realm, I could be one of the

instruments that will change how people perceive agriculture into some sort
of recognition and acknowledge it actually deserves. Furthermore, since it

needs engagement, it will not only benefit me, but also the sector itself.

Venturing into this kind of business does not only give the opportunity to

make profit, but to contribute to its growth and development. I would try to

be an inspiration to others and encourage them to make time and exert effort

to know and learn about agriculture and the businesses they could start from

it.

I stand firm with the fact that the information I would be acquiring and

the knowledge I would gain from my courses and subjects would be more

meaningful and serviceable if applied outside the school. I want to utiize and

nurture my skills and knowledge in a way that I would grow and would be

beneficial to many. One of the great avenues I know to enhance the learnings

is trying to build a business— the road here would not be smooth, it would

definitely be bumpy. The fact that the journey would be bumpy makes it more

worthwhile since this would mean that the challenges, setbacks, and

disappointments’ byproduct is a strong and better person, which is me. It is

not obviously admiring to just lock myself up in the room— I want to explore

what I could do more; I want to swim deeper; and I want to wander farther;

and business is probably the gateway. What makes it more enticing to venture

in this business is the people that would guide and support me throughout

the process, and I am sure that I would never be alone. Additionally, I want to

engage myself into agriculture business so that my journey would not stop in
school or just eventually be stagnant— I do not want to stop learning.

Business would teach me a lot of valuable things, bring new and fresh

experiences, and let me interact with new people. Also, the thing I am looking

forward to that is very close to my heart is to meet and talk with farmers. I

know that I can experience this without even entering business, but the

experience would be different if I would. I know that asking advices and

listening to the experiences and stories of these dear farmers would make me

more motivated to push this decision. Learning in school is fun, but learning

outside the school is fulfilling.

The last reason that I want to venture in agriculture-based enterprise

would be a practical one. It must be so fulfilling to have your own income that

will make you capable of helping your families as well as the needy people

around the society. Moreover, investing in agribusiness has a good impact in

the economy. According to an article, agriculture is the economic sector that

employs the most people in the world, and the main source of food and

income for many people living in poverty. Thus, investing in agriculture is

not only one of the most effective strategies to improve food security and

promote sustainability, it is also essential to many countries’ economic

development.

We can contribute to our country in many different ways, just learn and explore

where you think you belong.
