STORYLINE
The film is about a Spanish nurse who was hired to take care of a child with leukemia.
Upon moving in her patient’s home, she experiences some unexplainable events which
led her to meet a mysterious woman who frequently visits the home. She later uncovers
the secret behind the visitor and the family she left behind.

INTRODUCTION
[[ Camera pans to a woman showing her back singing to a child ]]

CARITA: ~♬ Estrellita donde estás, quiero verte titular,, en el cielo sobre el mar, un
diamante de verdad. Estrellita dónde estás, me pregunto quién serás ♬.~
[[ TITLE SCREEN ]]

SCENE 1 – The Hiring


[[ Camera pans to a young woman pulling her luggage ]]
ALIA: *Looks over the house in front of her and knocks on the door*
[[ Door opens ]]
VICTORIA: Si? Como puede ayudarte? (Yes? How may I help you?)
ALIA: Yo soy Alia, la enfermera contratada. (I am Alia, the hired nurse)
VICTORIA: Ah! Si! Si! Entra! (Ah! Yes! Yes! Come in!)
[[ Camera pans to house’s interior then it pans to a child staring out in the window ]]
VICTORIA: Miha, tu enfermera esta ki. (Mija, your nurse is here.) *glances over Alia*
Sinta. (Sit down).
ALIA: *Sits down and looks around the house*
VICTORIA: Gracias por akseptar este trabaho. (Thank you for accepting this job). Soy
Victoria Escalante, es bastante defisil. (I’m Victoria Escalante, this is difficult for me).
ALIA: Esta bien. (It’s fine).
VICTORIA: Miha, por favor, saluda tu enfermera. (Miha, please greet your nurse).
[[ Child ignores her mother and continues to stare out the window ]]
VICTORIA: Lamento eso. Dehame mostrarte el lugar. (I’m sorry about that, let me just
show you around).
[[ Alia follows Victoria around the house and the camera pans to the child again. Alia
gets to see a glimpse of a woman outside the window ]]

SCENE 2 – The First Night


[[ Camera pans to Victoria feeding Estrellita on the table ]]
VICTORIA: Mija, por favor kome tu sopa de pollo. Te ayudara sentirte mehor. (Mija
please eat your chicken soup. It will help you feel better).
ESTRELLITA: *Pushes the food away*
VICTORIA: Alia, podrías lavar los platos? Voy acostar a Estrellita. (Alia, could you
please wash the plates? I'll just put Estrellita to bed)
ALIA: Sí, señora. Limpiare la kusina por ti. (Yes, ma'am. I'll clean up the kitchen for
you.)
VICTORIA: Gracias, Alia. (Thank you, Allieyah)
ALIA: *Starts cleaning the table and washes the plates*
[[ Chairs creak in the background ]]
ALIA: *Looks around the dining area with a confused face before walking to the table,
she gasps when Victoria suddenly spoke*
VICTORIA: Alia, no dormida y necesito aser un llamada importante. Podrías
acompañarla un rato? Limpiaré la kusina, déjala como está. (Alia, she won't fall asleep
and I need to make an important call. Could you accompany her for a while? I'll clean
up the kitchen, leave it as it is.)
ALIA: Sí, señora. (Yes ma'am)
[[Alia goes up to Estrellita’s room and catches her on bed sweating profusely]]
ALIA: Dios mio, esta sudando mucho (Dios mio, you are sweating a lot) *proceeds to
touching the child's forehead* Tienes fiebre (You have a fever) *Alia grabs the essential
oil and massages the child* Te dale un masahe para que te sientas un poco mehor. (I'll
give you a massage so you could feel a bit better)
ESTRELLITA: Puede cantar para mí? Carita me canta canciones para que puede
dormir (Can you sing for me? Carita sings lullabies for me so I can sleep)
ALIA: Carita?
ESTRELLITA: *Child points towards the door of her bedroom but no one is there*
ALIA: No veo a nadiye (I don't see anyone.)
ESTRELLITA: Ella siempre está alyí. (She's always there)
ALIA: *Alia slowly turns her head around* Déjame llevarte a la cama
(L-Let me just put you to bed)
[[Alia begins singing to the child when the lights suddenly fluctuate]]

SCENE 3 - The Visitor

[[Camera pans to Estrellita and Alia in the living room. Alia is giving the child a sponge
bath]]
ALIA: Te sientes un poco mehor? (Are you feeling a bit better?) Un baño frío ayuda
abajar la fiebre caliente (A cold bath helps lower down a hot fever.)
ESTRELLITA: *Nods* Por favor, no me quitar la pulsera. La curantero dijo que es
encanto contra el mal de ojo. (Please don’t remove my bracelet. The curantero said it’s
charm against the Evil Eye.)
ALIA: Si. Está bien si me lo quitar para puede bañarte apropiadamente? (Yes. Is it okay
if I remove it for a while just so I could bathe you properly?)
ESTRELLITA: *Nods*
ALIA: Volveré bien. Kusinares hierbas para que las bebas. (Okay. I'll be back alright?
I'll cook up herbs for you to drink)
[[Camera pans to Alia cooking in the kitchen, she suddenly stops when she hears a
voice of a woman singing a lullaby]]

CARITA: ♬ Estrellita donde estás, quiero verte titular,, en el cielo sobre el mar, un
diamante de verdad. Estrellita dónde estás, me pregunto quién serás ♬.
[[Camera pans to Alia slowly walking out of the kitchen to the living room where she
sees a silhouette of a woman sitting on the couch with only her back seen. She slowly
approaches the couch and as soon as she faces the woman she hears the door shut on
its own]]
ALIA: *screams and stares back at the woman who is now out of sight. She checks on
Maria who is now fast asleep*
[[Camera pans to the hall catching a glimpse of a woman's figure passing by. Alia
stares into the hallway and runs after her she arrives in a room where the door closes
on its own locking her inside. She begins screaming when the lights turn on and off on
their own. She sees a figure of a woman standing in the doorway and slowly walking
towards her]]

SCENE 4 - Carita
[[Alia stops screaming after the lights stopped flashing. The woman can no longer be
seen. She quickly runs out of the room and arrives back in the living room but Estrellita
is nowhere in sight. She spots Victoria with two other women]]
FAUSTINA: Aguanta alyi Victoria! (Hang on there Victoria!)
MORTICIA: Tú puedes acer esto Victoria! Ella casi está aqui! (You can do this Victoria!
She's almost here)
[[ Camera pans to a man and a woman coming in the room running past Alia]]
MARTIN: E traído a mi hermana. (I've brought my sister.)
CARITA: *Immediately runs over to Victoria* Tu hija ya casi esta allí, puedes hacer
esto. Empujar! (Your child is almost there, you can do this. Push!)
VICTORIA: *gives birth to the baby*
CARITA: Es una mujer. (It's a girl)
[[Camera pans to family members celebrating]]
[[Scene shifts with Victoria resting on the bed and Carita carrying a child.]]

CARITA: ♬ Estrellita donde estás, quiero verte titular,, en el cielo sobre el mar, un
diamante de verdad. Estrellita dónde estás, me pregunto quién serás ♬.
VICTORIA: Lo siento, Carita. Ya eres mi partera y sin embargo siges amamantando a
mi hija (I’m sorry to have bothered you. You are already my partera and yet you’re still
nursing my child).
CARITA: Estrellita es mi sobrina. Esto es lo menos que puede hacer. Además, estás en
cuarantena. (Estrellita is my niece. This is the least I could do. Besides, you are on
cuarantena.)
VICTORIA: Has hecho suficiente. También estás enfermo. (You have done enough.
You are also sick.)
CARITA: No te preocupes por mi. (Don’t worry about me.)
VICTORIA: Gracias, Carita. (Thank you, Carita).
[[Camera pans to Carita carrying the child and talking to a few neighbors]]
FAUSTINA: He hecho una pulsera para ella. Mal de ojos son peligrosos. (I’ve made a
bracelet for her. Evil eyes are dangerous.)
MORTICIA: Por cierto. Oh, mira, tiene un marca de nacimiento de fresa. Victoria
no debe haber satisfecho su deseo de fresas. (Indeed. Oh look, she has a
strawberry birthmark. Victoria must have not satisfied her desire for
strawberries.)
CARITA: Cómo podría ella? Las fresas son caras (How could she? Strawberries are
expensive.)
[[The women burst out laughing before Faustina notices blood dripping from Carita’s
nose]]
FAUSTINA: Dios mio, Carita!
MORTICIA: Madre mia, estás bien?! (Madre mia, are you alright?)
CARITA: Solo estoy cansado. Estaré bien (I’m just tired. I’ll be fine.)
FAUSTINA: Vamos adentro. (Let’s get you inside.)
[[Faustina and Morticia guide Carita and Estrellita back to their home]]
[[Camera pans to Carita on her bed looking extremely weak and pale. Her brother
Martin and sister-in-law Victoria watch her with worry]]
MARTIN: Por qué te está pasando esto, mi hermana? (Why is this happening to you,
my dear sister?)
CARITA: No te preocupes por mí hermano. Esta es la voluntad de Dios. Anque quiero
cuidar a Estrellita, esto es inevitable (Don’t worry about me brother. This is God’s will.
Although I want to take care of Estrellita, this is inevitable.)
VICTORIA: Carita.
CARITA: Cuida a Estrellita (Take care of Estrellita).
[[Scene shifts to Carita’s death. The family grieves as they pray for Carita on the death
bed.]]

SCENE 5 – The Unfinished Business


[[Camera pans to Alia waking up on the couch with a loud gasp]]
VICTORIA: Estas despierta (You’re awake.)
ALIA: *looks around in panic* Señora.
VICTORIA: Te desmayaste. Qué te ha pasado? (You fainted. What happened to you?)
ALIA: He visto cosas (I have seen things.)
VICTORIA: Qué han visto? (What have you seen?)
ALIA: Quién es Carita? (Who is Carita?)
[[Victoria looked shocked hearing Carita’s name from Alia. Scene shifts to Alia and
Victoria in the living room. Victoria plans to talk about the past with Alia.]]
VICTORIA: Entonces me estás diciendo que la has visto en la casa? (So you’re telling
me you’ve seen her around the house?)
ALIA: Sí, señora. Por favor, créeme, no estoy loca. (Yes, ma’am. Please believe me, I
am not crazy.)
VICTORIA: Lo saber. Carita es mi cuñada. Estaba casado con su hermano, Martín. (I
know. Carita is my sister-in-law. I was married to her brother, Martin.)
[[Scene shifts to the past revealing Victoria and Martin’s marriage ceremony]]
VICTORIA: Carita quería a Estrellita como a una madre. Cuida a mi hija mientras yo
estaba en cuarentena. Ella es una enfermera. Ella también fue mi partera antes de dar
a luz (Carita loved Estrellita like a mother. She was a nurse. She took care of my child
while I was on cuarantena. She was also my partera before giving birth).
ALIA: Lo que le ocurrió? (What happened to her?)
VICTORIA: Ella también murió de leucemia. Fue devastador para todos nosotros.
Después de escuchar lo que dijiste, sentí que Carita todavía nos está cuidando. (She
died of leukemia too. It was devastating for all of us. After hearing what you’ve said, I
felt like Carita is still watching over us.)
ALIA: Estaría bien si visito su tumba para presentar mis respetos? (Would it be fine if I
visit her grave to pay my respects?)
VICTORIA: Si puedes (Yes, you may.)
[[Scene shifts to Alia visiting a grave and praying.]]
ALIA: Debes haber estado muy preocupado por la niña. Solo quiero que sepas que
puedes descansar en paz. Cuidaré de la niña como si fuera mía. Tal como lo hiciste.
(You must have been very worried of the child. I just want to let you know that you can
rest in peace. I will take care of the child like she is my own. Just as you did.)
[[Camera pans to Alia looking far off and spotting a woman who looked like Carita.
Scene fades with Carita singing the same lullaby]]
