The phone call is dying.

These days, we don’t use the phone as much

because we’re often not up to the demands of it. Many adolescents love the
fact that texts can be carefully constructed, whereas phone calls because we
can’t meet the demands of it. There’s a lot of talk about being able to control
things better when it’s done via text, where you can edit your message exactly
as you like.

A. How important is it to you to be able to control the message you present

when talking to others?

Well for me it's important to control what I say to the person I'm talking to
because I'm the type of person who isn't that good at talking or handling
conversations so as much as possible I want to be careful so as not to offend
the person I'm talking to. Also, I don't want to make a terrible impression on
the person I'm speaking with due of my inability to communicate well.

B. Do you see phone calls as a lot of pressure?

Yes, as mentioned above, I'm not that good at handling conversations so

when I speak on the spot, I lose my composure and I'm suddenly blanked to
the point that I don't know what to say next maybe it’s because when we're on
the phone, we're limited to the sounds of our own voices, which can be
intimidating. We might sometimes feel self-conscious about the sound of our
own voices and our choice of words in the absence of any other social
indicators, such as gestures, body language, and eye contact. There are no
exterior distractions when we're on the phone, so it can feel like the spotlight
is on us to answer questions right away.

C. Is texting more or less efficient than talking?

I would say yes because it provides us with a level of flexibility that calling
does not. It enables people to respond at their convenience, as well as giving
them time to consider their responses.

Texting also facilitates a quicker and more efficient exchange of data. Even
this basic form of communication is now shared using abbreviations and
emoticons, suggesting that this mode of communication is all about getting
information to the recipient as quickly and efficiently as possible.
